I have tried searching the forums but haven't found anything on changing the drive belt. I am just wondering if there is an easier way to change the belt than the good old push, pull, and fight with the secondary.......
I usally don't have much luck getting it off the old way, and takes me a good while to get it clutch apart to get the belt to drop.. any tips, tricks or known easier methods would be appreciated...
cutting the belt off isn't an option..lol although i have though about doing that many a time

Takes 5 seconds. Push in on the inside half of the primary and turn it clockwise (If I remember right). Fastest belt change in the industry.

yoyu mean the secondary, right??? Rotating the primary will just turn over the engine...Ruckus said:Takes 5 seconds. Push in on the inside half of the primary and turn it clockwise (If I remember right). Fastest belt change in the industry.

Use a 12mm box end wrench on 1 of the nuts off the helix for extra leaverage & push in at the same time, works for me everytime!...

nope, just the bolt that hold it in place,i think its the same clutch they had on the old phazers, the helix is behind the clutch and not in front

Helps to engage the parking brake then pull up on the belt at same time as you turn the sheave.Goal is to get the belt to kind of wedge the sheaves apart leaving you a bunch of slack so belt can be removed over the top of the secodary sheave.Maybe will try getting kids to take a video of me doing it.Probably alot of editing though since it can be a real pain getting belts off!

Just do it the old russian way; just beat the hell out of it, works every time.

Okay, look at the large pully on the right. Shove in on the inner half while rotating and it opens up the space between the two halves. This allows you to pull the belt up and over the outside by making more space in the center so the lower half of the belt will reach the center shaft. Easy peasy.
