the other mfg allso have much more belt related problem,s than you have ever had on any yamaha. this i know as i ride with them all open there hood,s at a stop a just see who,s clutch,s you can frie an egg on. and if you dont think that the secoundey does not self aline just put some machinest dye on the jack shaft and go for a ride.. but float or not to float is a personal preferance thing. and as there are many side,s to clutching i chose to float that,s all. we should all be out there rideing and not dealing with this. have a nice day guy,s

I agree FLOAT is a good thing for ON an OFF throttle and trail riding....
however,I also feel IF you are drag racing,short bursts ect..hammer down for short bursts then are done...well,with this type if riding i would say the FIXED secondary is better IMO.....
IMO,UNDER heavy acceleration the clutch will not MOVE, or FLOAT....it will stay put as there is too much torque....but it WILL FLOAT over as soon as you let off throttle.....SO,because if this,i think for drag type running fixed is best..
you can put sled on a stand and watch the secondary float...but it usually wont move under load...until you let off....
Ive run mine both ways and never felt any difference...
but yes i would measure your distance of 15mm AFTER you set your deflection to where you want it....since that is where you will be riding it.

I dont know how you guys could tell a difference in belt life on these sleds.. My belts last darn near forever.. LOL
On a side note.. I checked my alignment and found it to be dead on with the factory shims on the secondary..
