Take the front three (3) bolts out of the side cover. The ones that are vertical on the panel, not the three (3) lower ones, this will help make it easier to get the belt off and out.
As you spin the driven clutch use your thumb to wedge belt down and it will hold clutch open so you can get another grip and get more belt slack.You still need to hang on to the clutch plate so it doesn't spin back,but the belt friction helps. Then just peel belt off bottom of clutch,turn it sideways and wiggle it past drive clutch.Yes there is a rotation direction.If you read "Yamaha"the correct way facing your belt you are all set.
