Just curious what everyone is using as far as belts and plugs for their Vectors?

I believe the proper belt is a 8DN-17641-01-00 V-Belt but want to make sure?
I have no idea on plugs however (haven't looked) what is everyone using, stock recommended or aftermarket with different numbers?

Thanks.

(p.s. if anyone knows the CDN prices for the above or somewhere good to purchase them from, it would be appreciated also)

Belt... yep.

Plugs... I haven't changed mine yet on the Vector, but I used NGK CR9EK on the Apex, and both sleds take the same plug.

Thanks Catman ;)!

CR8E is the stock plug for the '08 Vector.

Yea, 8's are the stock plug, but 9's are supposed to be worth 2-3 extra ponies in the 3 cyls, just like putting 10's in the 4 cyls.

Hope this helps.

I use the NGK 8's. For the belt, I use the Dayco Ultimax 3 #138-4432 U3. The 8DN belt would not stop squeeling and is tough on the clutch surfaces.

Are you refering to grooves in the clutch surfaces?
Figured any belt would cause that but also heard aftermarket belts don't last long compare to OEM belts, so it makes sense.

I am also curious on the plugs as I have read where the higher the number also means harder starting in the cold, any truth to that?

The colder plugs can foul easier when starting/warming up on a stone cold engine.

I just noticed that yours is a carbed '08..... stick with the stocker #8's. The couple HP you may gain with the 9's won't be worth it if you're changing plugs all the time. Leave that to the 2-stroke guys. :tg:

Thanks Pat and Catman, great info! ;)!

i must agree with the use of ultimax belts... although free belts if you blow one. the stock yamaha belt will pick the ski's up better on the trail, but cant take the heat if your off trail. ultimax belts break in half and result in bending the shield, and ripping the side panel off. you learn to plastic weld pretty fast haha. as with yamaha belts they shred and cause no damage. just be sure to check behind your clutch so you dont screw up the seal. we run cr8e's in all 4 of our vectors
