I could not get my kids belt off. I finally did. Now getting it on was near impossible. I know all the proper techniques. What has me stumped is that I had to pry the secondary so that it would spread the sheaves(up the helix). Why is this sticking? Is this anything I should be concerned with? How do I shim the secondary to bring the belt up, is this like my Nytro? Any help appreciated.

You can take it apart, clean the helix, and 10 mi later it will be like that again.
To shim it you need =take the secondary part as well. After you get the helix side of on the shaft will be washer looking things. Those are the shims. Remove to raise the belt, Add to lower the belt.

should just turn the back half of the sheave clockwise & push in to get the belt on & off.

belt should sit .060" above secondary.
secondary freeplay is .040"-.080". add shims if necc.

is the belt old & maybe worn out?

I noticed the old belt sitting below the secondary-thus I was trying to install a new one.I thought I smoked the old one because I forgot to take off the parking brake for a bit. I got the new belt on but it is still below the sheaves. I guess I need to remove this and do some things. Any tips on removal? Anything to be concerned with when removing? I have an Ulmer clutch kit but I don't recall if that had anything to do with the secondary.

just the 1 bolt to take off. has shims on the front & back of secondary. just don't misplace them.

then the snap ring is all you need to take off to access the spring, helix & "shoes" on the ramps.
(once you have the secondary off the sled)

don't forget to twist the spring before you put the snap ring back on for re-assembly.

With the reverse update, a new belt will sit over an 1/8" below the top. Looks wrong, but it pulls it.

Nice tips guys-interesting about the reverse update, although I'm not sure it has been done but that's where the belt sits and I never had any reverse issues.
