I would have to agree with the heat adding to the belts failing under extreme loading. I have added some carbon fiber venting to help with the evacuation of heat from under the hood and it seems to be doing the trick. 3500 miles on the Gates carbon fiber belt under all types of conditions. MPI 190 kit with clutch work and gears. Very happy so far.View attachment 145507 View attachment 145508 View attachment 145506 I would agree that C12 is a good trail belt, but off-trail under constant load it builds too much heat and delaminates. Most of my delaminations were worse than that shown by OP. I like the compound and am going to do further testing on the Kevlar version and see if it holds up any better.

I'm 99% on trail at speed. I've heard these carbon fiber belts are not the greatest for off trail and build heat but that's not my case. In fact, on this one all of the 900+ miles were from on trail riding.
I will give it another try, break in a new belt properly and see how it performs. (love the lack of belt dust vs. 8JP)

Question. The screw that holds clutch cover on at footwell. Is it put in with head to the inside? I have seen opposit and it could contact belt if threaded in wrong way.

No the head is not on inside. However, my delamination is all on the left edge of belt as you sit on the machine.
Would think it would be both sides if belt issue. I wonder if this is a clutch alignment issue? Ever check? Didn't lose the spacer between bearing and secondary? No the head is not on inside. However, my delamination is all on the left edge of belt as you sit on the machine.

nope but I will check it out just to be sure.
Left side is stationary so it would make sense.nope but I will check it out just to be sure.
