I am running bender II at 8lbs of boost on 93 pump gas.
Okay, started out last night it ran pretty good, then it progressivly got worse. The a/f at ideal was at 14.0, wot was at 12.0/12.50. Ran pretty good. I never ran it hard, wot for short bursts to about 60mph.
Then it started loading up. Getting readings of 10/11 on wot and 11 at ideal. I did a short burst of wot and it sputtered and I looked down and it jumped to 17. I shut it down and it idealed rich.
I though maybe its part of the motor breaking in (new rings) So I lowered the needle and getting readings from 11/15.5 at wot. Its completely all over the board.
Another thing that is happening it is sputtering bad at wot.
I am a bit confused, anyone have any suggestions what might be going on?
Thanks.

My guess is you are running rich. What size pitot jet are you running? Where is your AFR plumbed in at? It needs to be down stream of the turbo to get an accurate reading. If it is upstream it will be all over the place. If it is to close to the exhaust outlet it will not work properly either.
First my a/f is in the existing bung right before the turbo (outlet side).
Matt, How do I check if it is getting oil back there. And why would that cause the sled to act the way it is? You noted that your needles are all the way up, are you talking the clip is all the way up and the needle is down (leaning it out, right).

If the return oil pump was not working, you'd be shooting oil out of the exhaust.

I mean see if the pump is pulling the oil back from the turbo. Feel that metal line that dumps the oil back in the tank it should get hot.
I have my needles all the way up the clip all the way down. To get more fuel in the mid.
Benders run lean in the mid.
Not to scary you but when my head gasket went it ran the same way like it was loading up in the mid range and ran ok on top. Look at your exhaust make sure you dont see any milky crap.
Check all your fittings buddy!! GOOD LUCK!

I posted it in Classifieds! $8000.00 Im buying a new attack!
No milkyness at all, I did put my needle clips to the very top and it got worse.
No oil coming out the exhaust either. The sled ideals perfectly. Doesnt like the choke even at -4 deg.

Check all you boots on the intercooler to the carbs. My SC will go rich(11s at WFO) if one of these are leaking and crazy rich when all four blow off (low 9s). If one or all are leaking the engine won't see all the air from boost but the line that pressures up the carb bowls will. This causes the engine to go way too rich. It's a good thing if you have had the IC blow off as many times as I have whle going WFO down the trails.
It will idle no problem even with the IC completely off the sled. As a matter of fact; I usually remove the IC to get the sled started after a roll over or if the sleds winds up upside down. If I don't the Charge tube is full of fuel from the carbs.

Nice you will like it big time i love mine!! But after running up north on a big lake the Turbo sled takes the cake on the fun factor! The stock sleds just die at 90-95 mph that is where the Turbo just EATS!!! HAHA

your afr will read all over the place where you have it installed in the system. you can not get accurate readings there. it needs to be in the exhaust side after the turbo. what size is the pitot jet that you have installed. again i'll re-iterate that i think you are rich. the fact that you raised the needles and it got worse lends a lot of creedence to this fact. you should use the jetting you had in the sled before you boosted the sled (if it was jetted properly stock, you do not need to make any changes, if you were not correct when in stock condition then the boost will compond your problems). you adjust your fuel mixture by changing the pitot tube. a larger pitot jet leans the mixture a smaller one richens the mixture. i have sizes from 400 to 1200 to adjust the mixture based on boost, ambient temp, altitude.
Okay, I lowered my needle yesterday. What I am getting is this.
If I crack the throttle from ideal - mid it cuts out. If I crack the throttle at 3/4 throttle hang the ** on.
I can ease into the throttle from 0-100 mph and it is right on all the way. a/f, throttle responce, engine sounds and runs perfectly.
I am 2 turns out on my fuel mixture and plan on turning it in a little, also all jetting is stock.

Try cleaning your pilot jets. They plug really easy.
When I pull the carbs to adjust the pilot screw, I will clean the carbs and check out all the jets.
It is running the best it has since I put that turbo on. Just need to get it perfect!

woodsrider, Im with you about the charge tube jet. I plan on picking up a few different sizes, those are much easier to change out then to adjust the carbs when the temp changes.
First I need to get it at a base. So far stock jets, needles all the way down, 2 turns out on the fuel screws. It is running RICH at ideal. So I am going to lean that out just a bit. Clean carbs and try again.
At this point I think its down to the carbs.
