Bender II not running correctly.

Man, good to hear it was that simple. I've had the green springs in my sled for years, did never change them out going turbo. Sled have worked great with them in. Now you guys got me thinking about changing them out for the stock ones, it doesn't hurt trying.... Guess I have to ride my sled as it is first before I change anything cause I have lots of changes done already, haven't been out yet with the turbo, but will test stock springs asap. Thanks for good info.

Nice work skydog! Now if familyman gets $9000 for it he can split the Extra $1000 with you from his original price of $8000 for the help :)

Man that sounds good!!! :jump: ;)!

Last year I added the second line to the carb vents and that took care of a midrange lean spot that I had.

But I was still running between 14.7 and 15.1 on the A/F under a no load 50-75 MPH cruise speed on a joint use smooth road.

So I added the green springs and have not had any snow since. I think I'll put the stock ones back in until we get some real snow to test. I hate to trailer it for an hour to the mountain only to have problems.

I just want to ride the thing for a day.

Want are you guys running A/F at a no load cruise?

I run around 15-stoich and around 1000-deg egt and 2-3psi boost.

yep....Matt gets $500 if it sells! You got my word on it!

I am seeing 14.5-15 on mine holding it steady at 55-60.

I am only seeing 128mph on the dreameter around 1500ft at 8lbs of boost . I wonder if its the fresh motor needing broke in, or that it is reading 11.5 at wot. (might be a little rich yet) :drink:

I called bender and they havent gotten back to me yet, but can someone tell me how the jet works on the charge tube. Bigger the number, leaner the sled...or the other way around.

I ordered up the 600 jet, and bought the 400 jet. I have the 500 in the sled. I would like to play with that just a little and see what happends.

Thanks.

Bigger jet in pitot tube makes leaner mixture. Smaller jet, richer mixture.

As you go up in boost you should need a smaller jet.

BigDog05, I wouldn't pull out your springs till you get a chance to try it. On my Bender last year I plumbed 2 lines & ran Blue springs (which are lighter yet) & it worked great.

So, maybe I need to just turn up the boost... ;)!

Do you usually jump 100 increments? 400-500-600?

The speeds are not that bad turn the boost to 13 and try!! HAHA

When the jet is smaller on the pitot tube it lets LESS air out and pushes more air up to the carbs that pushes more fuel in to the motor.

Bigger jet lets MORE air go out of the jet and less air (psi) pushing up to the carbs = less fuel going in motor.

Hope that makes sense. :jump:

Skydog :4STroke: :flag: ;)!

tonykof: I'll give it a try the way it is then.

Why did you change the springs. My needles are one notch rich and Ted suggested the spring change rather than another notch in the needles.

Everyone says that the Benders run a little lean in the middle.

FAMILYMAN: If you are only running 8lbs, adding a little boost should make the A/F a little leaner.

Yes

You should come up and ride! Some more snow coming Sunday! You can ride the Apex RTX for a spin if you want to try one out! And you could take my Turbo for a spin and see what you think! :) :)

FAMILYMAN: Just remember to add some octane when you up the boost.

I have a new barrel of VP103 unleaded just waiting to be opened. Now all we need is some snow.

Matt, we are heading up Feb 5th for a week. Backpacking in the UP. So far maxdlx, viperdave and one of his buddies and I are going up.

I have a additive for my pump gas that I can reach very high octane ratings (not street legal). I was told 10lbs with my setup is safe. Mostlikely I will push that and add some additive.
