Bender Turbo

The guy who told you you can't run WOT for very long is right, but that's because you will be going too fast. Never heard that before, I hold mine open for long periods when climbing big hills.

I don't see how removing that jet will affect the low throttle setting popping. It's not even in boost yet where mine pops. Just going slow at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle is where it pops. Runs great at boost levels.

Guys... if you are taking the jet out of the controller line, you don't have your set up right... The jet is there for a reason.... try a simple test, pull the line off the boost conroller.. put 20lbs of presure on that conrol line, feel the air that comes out of that line with and without the jet... if you run low levels of boost, who cares how much waste air you blow by..... when you want all the air that you produce to hit the air box, you don't want a open line without that jet.... 90% of the problems that guys have with turbo sleds is with the set up... you have to have the presure signal right to the carbs to avoid low, mid, and high problems... Take the time to be sure your have no leaks, none,,, make sue your fuel and vent presure specs meet the specs.... and shazammmm that darn tubo sled will not miss a beat anywhere... and for turbo lag on the bender unit that many talk about, you wont call it lag, most will say it will not rev as quick as the front mounts...

This has a #90 jet in the wastegate line and a #400 in the pitot tube. On the jackstand I see 8lbs of boost.

If I install a hi/lo switch what jet is put into the wastegate line or is is removed?

How far with stock jetting can you run on pump fuel with 8lbs? 1000' or less? What is the max boost with 115 octane and the stock head gsk/pistons?

This poor guy only has 15 miles on his sled with the turbo. I just pulled it apart today and it looks as if the intercooler boots did not fit real well so I am assuming this might be contibuting to his poor part throttle driveability?

Any insight you guys can give I appreciate. I don't have much time to test this weekend so I am trying to get a jump start on things. Anyone going to tip-up-town this weekend?

sre.... if you have a bender stage II... i believe it has 200 jet in the waste gate line... and he sends out a 400 and 700 jet for the pito tube.... 400 to richen it up,,, and 700 to lean it out... at ide and no boost is has little effect and that is what makes this set up great.. when you install a high low switch, i would use a 200 jet .... i would check with bender instructions on the fuel to use... for me 5lbs 92 pump ok.... if going to 8lbs. if it is really 8 and guage is accurate, i would go to 110... but thats me.. play safe,, one of the worst parts about the turbo install or changing main jets is getting a good seal on the carbs... not much area to get that perfect seal or grab.... if its off a tad, boost will blow off the box... that is why i put on a set of car extender flanges made by Dan Hennum ... they fit on carbs and give you added area for a easy quick fit.... you epoxy the flanges onto the carbs... some may not like to do it.. but those who run big boost, want a good fit or like to change their oil a lot , will say i can live with the epoxy job... if just one carb boot is of or not sealed, you will have problems.. Be sure to check the vent line seals that run to the pito pick up... may want to epoxy the bottom of the outlet that attaches to the presure line.... any small leaks will impact the presure signal to the carb.... it takes time, but all connections must be perfect.... hope this helps,, send me a pm message if you think i can be of any other help.

The RX1 doesn't have that seperator box in the stock air box. Can you show a pic of yours? Maybe I can fab one.
