So I ran last year (1600kms) and this year so far (700kms) all stock on my '08 LTX GT. Time for a new set up.

Looking for the best carbide to run on my stock skis to stop the darting/hunting/tracking issue.

A search just turned up hundreds of threads, so I'm looking for Apex rider input.

I'm looking at the Stud Boy Deuce Runner in a 6". The ATS Razor Twin Blades. Woody's Dooly Runner. And finally the Snowtrackers.

I ride 99% groomed trails, so I need help with frozen trail condtions and control options.

All help is greatly appreciated folks!!!

I have an Apex and a Attack, both with Snowtrackers. I had Woody's Dooly on my Apex and my Attack came with them when I bought it. Having rode with both before I bought my Attack I took the Doolys of the Attack before I even rode it and replaced them with Snowtrackers. I still have the Doolys sitting in very good condition but once you have had Snowtrackers its hard to use anything else. The Doolys were good but didnt give you the same confidence in steering as the Snowtrackers. I have thousands of miles on both sleds and the Snowtrackers have held up extremely well.

John, from what I have read on here and the fact you are sticking with your stock skis, I'd say the Snowtrackers as well.

Pete has them on his new sled as you know and following him New Years day, he was straight as an arrow and I never noticed him once do any side to side shimmy like he was darting.

Have you adjuted your toe in/out lately? I believe the Snowtrackers call for "0" toe in/out but you should have at least a 1/8 to a 1/4 toe out now.

I have an 08 GT 121 with Ice Ripper track and have been very happy with Bergstrom triples 8". I am on my third set with over 7000 miles. The old sets are still usable but no longer sharp and have few chips in them.

Mine is the 136, so I doubt that would make a differene, but I like to know.

Snowtrackers are my likely choice after searching other threads, but there is so much info out there!

Meklke...do you find the 8" overly aggressive on the trails?

Another vote for the Bergstrom Triple points....rode with them the last two years I had my 2007 Apex, single best investment I made for handling and control. Call and speak with Scott Bergstrom directly, great guy, he'll be able to tell you what length of carbide best suits your riding style. Had no issues with the 8" triple points, shimmed them with the shims Scott sends with them and it made a world of difference ;)!

I've also ordered a set of 8" triple points for the tuner skis on my new sled, rode 1000km with the tuner skis last week in Quebec, impressed with how they handle but the stock carbides (6" and 4") leave a bit to be desired, will be replacing the 6" set with 8" triple points.

X3 on the Bergstrom triple points with shims. Because I can't seem to wear them out I am sticking with my stock ski's another season!

X3 for Bergstrom Triple points and Shim's, I went 4000 miles and sold my OEM ski's with them installed and they are still being used today 2 year's later.

Another Happy Bergstrom Rider

I have very little experience but I do like the Bergstrom 6" Triples along with ski savers and shims on our '12 RSVector LTX. Only 235 miles since new so far but little or no darting and turns with little or no push. Semi aggressive rider. I will probably soften the front a bit and transfer a bit fwd. I'm getting some inside lift which I am not happy with.

Bergstromm tripple points are hands down better than a regular type of carbide. Used them on my Viper. You need to use the ski savers and shim your skis to get the full benefit from them.
Snowtrackers have been my best investment for a carbide. Night and difference from the Bergstromms that I had. Make the sled steer easier and will bite in the corners at almost any speed.
Dooleys are fine if you are a trail cruiser. No darting but willl push in the corners if you ride hard.
Had dooleys on my Attak for 50 miles. Hated every corner I took with them. Snowtrackers put the smile back on my face. :jump:
