I bought a 2008 40th anniversary edition rtx nytro last February and im a newbie to the yamaha nytro world. I really like how it rides but i noticed after the second ride the front shock on the skid just had the resivor line zip tied to the rail the banjo bolt some how fell out of the shock. Guess i didnt look that over very well when i bought the sled. I just wanted to ride the sled with the little season i had left so i didnt pull the shock out to get rebuilt. Put on 350 miles last year. Tore the skid out and sent the shocks out to get rebuilt and the rear checked out ok but the front not so much. The threads on the shock body are toast and will not hold the banjo bolt. So the builder says he can order a new shock body for $180 plus shipping i dont if i want to dump all that money into a factory shock. What do you guys think? Do i buy a used factory shock or whats a decent aftermarket shock out there without breaking the bank any help is greatly appreciated!

Last year my front skid shock actually split down the body of the shock, wich is all too common. I purchased a Fox Zero pro from Carter for just under $300, valve for my riding style and weight. The shock is non-adjustable piece and was about the most affordable new shock available.

I went with a fox zero pro as well valved for my weight with gear on and riding style. Works great. 2 seasons so far and all good. Can't remember the price but cheaper then anything else I could find at the time.
