I have loved my ripsaws 1.25 studded on trail, one went 10, 000 miles of abuse before failed. On Apex not Winder.
I know the deep snow guys don’t like them, but on trail studded I have loved them.

Your stock RipII track is a really nice 2 ply QUIET track. Problem is, it needs studs and with it’s quiet bumps on the interior portion of the track, well wheel longevity is short, but then again, in stock form it is super quiet when compared to others.
From what I have seen and tried, 1.22 or 1.25” is my choice. Some longer lugged tracks do not give you any better traction on groomed trails, and they tend to be louder and vibrate more on packed trails, but I haven’t tried them all!
Oh what track to choose? Not an easy thing to change out so it better be the right choice for you the first time around eh.

well, on the 11 xtx, i am trying an 1-1/2" x 15" x 144" track as it was $130.00 cheaper than the 1-1/4" ripsaw that i got 15000 mi on. brother tried one out on a 05 rx1 extended to 136 and he said it was compareable to the ripsaw 1 in the corners for bite/slide but it grabbed really well when you punched it. at the price difference i figured it was worth a shot.

On my last sled an 11 apex xtx, i had a 1.22 ice attack and was very impressed with traction on hard pack and would buy again if i didn't want studs, i put on a hurricane 180 hp kit and i clutch aggresive so i studded it 2 per bar and it hooked great, I've always studded heavy due to racing and wanting control, i always say the first to a 100 mph is the winner, now with my tuned winder it will be the first to 120 lol

Wow, is it really a 3 ply? Didn’t realize there was even a 3 ply. I really like my stock Rip 1.25.
I have mine studded, and I sunk/tightened the studs right into the quiet pads...and absolutely no issues with wheels whatsoever so far with 2400 miles.

Glad to hear that. Keep an eye on those studs because it only takes one!

Oh you’re welcome Motorhead. Dummy me..I had never heard of a 3 ply, but believed you that there was a 3 ply lol.
Good advice. I will make sure everything looks good when I do preseason maintenance in November.

There is only one choice rip 2. Definitely the best all around track for sure no question. Really good traction in all conditions. Even 1’ of fresh snow just last year watched 2 850 doo’s Do a run in the pow just for something to do, a 137” xrs with a 1.75 back country vs a 129” x with 1.25 rip 2. The short track rip 2 didn’t give an inch to the longer and powder oriented 1.75 backcountry. Speaks volumes to the capability of the rip 2. Yamaha puts them in the trail performance sleds for a reason. They are the best.

While I agree that isn't too bad mileage, it was how quickly it went south after the reflash.5000 miles is pretty respectable, what are you expecting for mileage?
I believe I would not be needing a track if not for the reflash…...
For comparison my buddy has a turbo Cat with the stock track at 8000 miles and that sled has been flashed to 250 hp and studded from day one.
My Viper has 10k on the stock track
When you reflash a Sidewinder it is not the reflash that is costly. It is all the other parts that you stress that add up to $$$$$$$

WHAT TRACK to USE?
For thousands of years there have been many questions that mankind has tumultuously pondered.
Is there a GOD?
Are there Aliens out there?
What came first, the Chicken or the Egg?
Where is this damn G-Spot?
What track do i use?
I can only give my opinion based on my MANY tracks throughout the years.
STAIN mentioned he rides ALL Groomed trails so 1.25'' should be more then adequate.
For me there are only 2 choices. The RIP II or the Ice-Attack.
I had over 14,000 HARD miles on my Ice-Ripper on my Apex. It was for ME & MY trails, the BEST all around track for traction, top speed, stopping & LONGEVITY!
IT DID NOT WORK on my Winder!
Just not enough traction. Hard pack early mornings i STAINED me under britches.
Now mine is a 137'' so it didn't transfer like STAIN's 129 either. I'm also 165 lbs & was fighting handling issues when i had it on.
I put 7500 on my RIP II with 96 studs up the middle with Ecotrail until 4 studs came out.
The RIP II is just a great GROOMED TRAIL track. Some tracks do other things very well, but the RIP is Groomed King!
I believe BEERMAN runs a Storm & he says in the looser snow where he rides it really shines. He also admits on harder pack it's just not as good as the RIP.
MY .02 cents
Now worth .03 cents since my 401k made 12% this year.
P.S: I did not intend to compare STAIN to any fecal matter in me britches.
P.S II: Is there any posts on this G-Spot thing i can look up? I have a date tonite....

Yes, no, Chicken, wish I knew, on trail studded Ripsaw!
I like you also liked my Ice attack on Apex but will give up a couple miles per hour on my Apex for ice traction, never had a winder so ....

Only issue is BRP dealer is asking for a lot for that track I feel like, maybe it's worth it though? So hard to take a gamble with zero reviews.
I can get an Ice Storm 150 for $770CDN or Ice Cobra for $780 CDN BRP dealer wants just over $1100CDN for the 1.5" Ice Ripper XT

You might also wish to ck out the Composit tracks .They're heavy duty with a solid lug .Only issue is BRP dealer is asking for a lot for that track I feel like, maybe it's worth it though? So hard to take a gamble with zero reviews.
