I currently ride an 05 Rev 800, My prior sled was an 04 Warrior. I sold my Warrior, because it totally scucked in the bumps. I ride in New England where the trails generally get bumpy fast. I love my Rev in the bumps, but have a chance to sell it for a fair Price. I want to buy a new Yamaha, either a ATTack or an RTX. which would be the best for an agressive rider? I weigh 160lbs and had no problem bottoming my warrior on a regular basis, plain and simple the warriors suspension was not up to the job. IM looking for the sled that would ride closets to the rev in the bupms, but have the legendary Yamaha reliability. Any help is appreciated.

Well get out of New England and back to Bernard's!!
Seriously though, even my '05 RX-1 does not suck on the bumps, and the Apex/Attak can only be better. I say go for it. My choice would be the Apex, I don't get the whole long track thing for trail riding. If you do any off trail riding then go for the Attak, but if it's trails only the Apex has got to be the way to go.

I do a lot of trail riding and sometimes bumpy ones... I did 800 km on my ATTAK and bottomed out only in extreme riding but the suspension was at its most soft in the tunnel. So with it a little more stiff, no problemo... And a 136 inch track just gives you more traction when the snow is softer but still turns pretty fast in my opinion... I can take a lot of bumps, maybe not quite as much as a 136 inch REV but really close, and that motor is to die for. Be warned, handwarmers are soso...

Get the RTX and work a deal on one of the GYTR stiffer springs you will have a blast! You will love the engine the floats and the riding position. RTX without reverse will be the lightest. Attak also has a stiffer spring option but no front floats and the 136 is heavier.

QC I plan on hitting Bernards again this year, maybe we can hook up. My riding buddies is in a finacial crisis so he probably cant do any Canada trips this year. The rev and wifes Vector should be sold this weekend, so hopefully Ill have a new apex of some sort by next week.

RTX... Attack is heavier and will be harder to handle when the trail gets really nasty! Both are much improved over the Warrior..
I too had TWO warriors.. and the apex is alot different and BETTER! It is still no were close to being as light as a rev... But it drives like it is!

I have the attak with floats on it and it jumps as well as the gt is as fast as the gt but does not turn as quick yet i have some stuff to make that happen or as close as i can get it to turn like the gt, as long as i have transfer dialed in,it will never turn as quick as the gt,but if ya give up some traction it is much quicker, and in what little bumps i have been in,very good but will have to wait to see if it really fairs as well as the rtx gt does, either way they are all sweet rides, but the attak is 25 lbs heavier, but it is not any slower, and we cant figure that one out,nos pro witnessed that first hand last weekend when his attak went 116.7 and shorties went 116.3 now there were some w/smaller tracks and tricks that went 121+ so i guess if only top speed is your flavor than rtx should be the top dog.

Just goes to show you that weight is nowhere near as big an issue as it is made out to be by some snowmobile magazines and manufacturers marketing departments. It cracks me up when some one says they don't want reverse because it saves 5 pounds!! Does NOTHING for you.

I am not to concerned with the sled feeling heavy. I am concerned with the sled bottoming constantly and beating itself to death. I dont plan on jumping the sled, but there are times when sections of the trails we ride resemble a mot cross track I m looking for which sled can hammer through trail junk the best. Top speed is not that important to me. I like corner to corner grunt. The Attack is very tempting to me, but im concerned about how it will handle the big bumps.

Stinx... they made heavier shocks for the APEX ATTACK and the WARRIOR.. so if your only complaint about the warrior is bottoming out then you should have gotton the stronger rear shock!
I tightened the rear spring on my GT last night.. it rides soft and bottoms quite frequently.. RTX should be stiffer!

Welt my only compliaint with the warrior was the bottoming and push in the corners. other than that I liked the sled alot.

From all the test pilot reports (yet to ride mine
)I read, everyone claimed the Attak had the best ride period. I believe it will turn much better than the Warrior do to the rider forward position. You can't argue the fact that a longer skid will bridge the bumps better than a 121 incer :ORC

I like the 136" in the bumps. As a Warrior owner, it seemed to work better on the bumpy stuff (more stable at speed) than the 121.
The rear of the Warrior is prone to bump-through though, IMHO the stock shock isn't great. I went with Ohlins on the front, which was a really good move, as the front is now much more bump resistant than stock.
I'm moving to the Benders monoshock (Penske, with 2 spring options) to sort out the rear suspension for this year, along with a taller saddle. No point in throwing away a sled that still has many thousands of reliable miles left in it.
Will probably move to an Attak in '07, and keep the Warrior as a backup.

Get the RTX. You just made need to the bigger spring in the rear, other than that, let her rip.
