Looking for a ski upgrade, I guess somewhat of on a budget. The stock skis on my sled are pretty beat and one has a nasty crack on the side where I clipped a rock.

Several of the people I ride with swear by CA Pro skis, but I've heard lots of good things about the new CurveXS skis as well, though the idea of spending well over $500 after carbides and mounting brackets is just too much.

I do about 50/50 groomed trail and "backcountry"/off trail riding, I'd like a wider ski to give better flotation, that big 1 liter motor sinks like a brick with the narrow stock skis.

The CA Pro TrailX skis seem to fit my needs and the price is right, a little over $300 including carbides/mounting. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

Dude, I went with Simmons II on my Warrior and it was a huge improvement. Excellent floatation, eliminated darting completely and improved cornering on groomed trails significantly. On loose snow they are not so hot and I have to say they seem to push a bit when things are loose on the trails. Overall I am very pleased with them. Gook luck with whichever you choose...

skis

I put the 08 professional skis on my Warrior..Made a big difference with floatation..use all hardware from warrior skis except for spacers and longer bolt..
I chose the Professional skis because the mounting bolt is on top of ski lip edge instead of under edge like apex mtn skis..better protection of mounting hardware in case of rocks stricking bolts...becomes a b@#%h to remove if bolts are damaged.
just my 2 cents

I had Simmons and went to the Curves, all I can say is WOW. The Curves carve with NO darting and do not require nearly the steering effort when things get tight and twisty. My vote is for Curves, hands down!!!!!!!!!

Curves skis for the trail

Apex Mountain skis for the floatation

slydogs with bergstroms triples. Nite and day. Was not afraid to corner hard. point and shoot, no walking.

I run simmons on my 04 warrior and love them... i have bergstrom triples on them now, but ran regular 4"ers before that. Anything is better than stock!

Took a look at the Slydog skis, and those look awesome. I'd heard of slydog, seem to remember someone I rode with once had those and really liked them.

Poking around reviews there's nothing but praise for them, and they some in some sweet color combo's too. I think the black with red swirl would look nice on my candy apple red Warrior. It's nice that carbide and mounting kit is included in the reasonable $350 price.

Would an 05 Warrior be "yamaha standard trailing arm" mounting, or the "apex/attack" mounting?

Any big difference between the powder hound and the trail skis, or is one just an inch wider? I'd think I would want the wider ones, but even the slydog "trail" ski is quite a bit wider than the stock ones.

war would be apex/attack.

i am going with curves myself and bergstrom tripple points. no one else has tried this combo so we will see.

get the powder hounds. they float better, and corner the same. Once you get them get a hold of Scott bergstrom and order his shim kit. You won't find any better set up. maxdlx

i have usi project x on mine and they are nice! jen has c&a razors and hers rides like a racecar.

You can buy the Yamaha mountain ski bottoms and the longer bolt kit, and then use all of the rest your stock hardware (loops, carbides, etc).

They will definitely give you extra flotation. I run them on my 151" Warrior and my wife's Venture.
