I thought ALL TY members were more informed?....why would anyone who is TY member even have a dreameter anymore?....when you can remove 2 teeth and never need a radar or gps again?...take a whole 10 minutes to have most accurate speedo around, and in large digital numbers infront of your face..
I dont get it...
dan
The dreammeter might be off, but the Odometer is Dead on.. (i have tested this against 15 other sleds in my group) if you mod the speedo drive than the odometer will be off..
I would rather have a correct working odometer than a speedometer.. only thing i need is to be ahead of whoever im racing at the time.. LOL

Good move
I've seen your screen name over on HCS alot when I rode my Edge. Great to have you over here! Welcome . I love my RTX as well, very intoxocating! You from NH? We may have met up in Pittsburg or was it one of your brothers with the Dragon? Not sure.69redmach1 said:Hi guys, I just jumped ship from Polaris and bought an 07 RTX. I broke it in today, I like to aggressively seat the rings (no babying). Anyway on a 1/3 mile ice run I hit 113mph on GPS. I have 144 1.325" studs and that's it.

Dan, I did cut one tooth off this fall since I'd prefer more accuracy at trail speeds then top end, but I now know my top end is only about 7MPH off instead of 15!
Oh, and the F7 speedo is the most accurate, and probably bigger numbers, without any modifications! 113MPH speedo was 112 on GPS...

Welt, I'm not sure...running with a Mach and SRX and my odometer was about 30miles higher than the Mach and 24 miles higher than the SRX after about 600 miles. I think it's a bit high too, but can't be certain I guess.

Everyone's different. Odometer accuracy is more important to me than speedo accuracy, and it appears a few others seem to feel the same as I do.
Kinda sad that Yamaha makes us choose, but it's just a stupid number...truth is I don't care a whole lot about either.

Lasr week in Cochrane, ON I "touched" 120MPH on the speedo on a hardpacked trail.
That's an 05 RX-1 with ALL stock clutching EXCEPT the 5/8 washers. All the rest of the mods are in my signature.

So i guess i am not to far off running 108-110 gps on packed snow? I have not been able to get on clean ice this year, but i did change out all my wheels to yamaha aftermarket spoked wheels out of there acc. book the ones w/the replaceable bearing, but guess what the two in the back are shot again, rubber all torn off,man this is starting to piss me off,we did run in some marginal snow conditions last weekend with my wife and friends wife,so we were just putting around, and gone! Oh well i like the little ones dan has run in his skid,up on the inside rail,i wonder if just those two would be enough?

Apex with Ram Air and Clutch
Top end: 2006 Apex RTX with FIX RAM AIR KIT + clutch mod, speedo sucks so. No pics, full tank of gas 1000 mile sled. Little over 1/4 mile run. Top speed 126. Speed is dead match to I-5 GPS Duck Taped to speedo housing!!! Then ran the same run with less than 1/4 tank and toped out at 133. Ram air and clutch mod added 8-10 MPH from where it was. But weght made the big difference. The intake sounds real throaty exhaust is factory so no foul. Had a trooper friend clock me with radar gun at 135. Just Grip and Rip and Hang ON!!!!!!

ran 129 speedo, 117 gps last year on dirt rode (stock)
Didn't know about the mod, I'll have to check that one out.
Anywho, I ran 125 on the speedo on a plowed road, hard packed surface no loose snow, and it was a slight uphill. Sled felt like it was still pulling, but I was out of room. This is from an all stock except studded track with 200 miles on it, and I ride about 190lbs with my gear on.
I was really, really impressed.
