I think I fouled a plug (or two)...went to have a look at 'em this evening and now I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to best get at these on my '08 Vector LTX? I think I can see them if I look down my steering column (see attached pic...which shows what I think to be the left one...the others are there but you can't see them easily). Please tell me they're actually somewhere else! :)

I'll keep my eyes and ears on; looking forward to hearing back. Thanks in advance, folks!

Unplug the white and the black connectors that are located to the right from your red arrow. Then remove 4 10mm bolts (2 per side) that secure the black steel headlight pod mount to the upper aluminum frame. Remove the two #3 Philips screws from the gas tank cover to the headlight pod.
Slip out idle adjustment thumb wheel located on the right below the headlight pod. Tilt and remove entire assembly.
You now have free access to the plugs.

whats it doing out of curiosity?

Thanks, folks...some good info here. Planning to pickup some plugs tomorrow and revisit this tomorrow evening. Appreciate the help!

Evening, folks. I spent a couple of hours in the shed this evening picking around and ended up changing the plugs in my '08 Vector. These suckers are not the easiest to get at but with the help and advice of those above (thanks again) I managed to get 'em swapped. I decided that I would take pics of the process in hopes that it may help someone else at some point down the road...pay it forward, right? ;)

Not the easiest to get at, though…have to remove all cowlings, headlight pod, and pod bracket to expose sparkplug caps.

These are the sparkplug coils…they need to be unplugged from wiring harness then pulled out (not an easy task).

Then go at it with the wrench…

Yup, bummed plugs...(my fault).

Replace plugs, put everything back together, hold breath, turn the key and...

I was a couple of hours doing this, although now that I know what’s involved I think I could do it in half of that. Plus I had the TV on and the fire lit...no rush, right? ;)

ahh, glad you got it figured out!

Maybe wouldn't have tackled it without the help from this forum.

IMO - on a carb'd Vector....when you are starting it and the engine is cold (warm for that matter too) DO NOT touch the throttle! Doing so is an invitation to fouling plugs. Only adjust the choke lever until the light goes out.

agreed, its really easy to stall out that way. i also give it another minute after the light goes out before i move

X2! Best to let them get nice and warm. I have a digital temp on both of my Vectors...not afraid to let them warm up to 200F. Most times it's 125F+.

At what temp does the temp light come on? That seems a bit high to let it idle.

If memory serves.....lite comes on at 230F. Have done it many times with no issues.....on my 05 that is.
