The Phazer would be useless in Quebec cruising at 65-70 MPH in 0 to -10 F weather. You would die on that thing. I'm not saying it's a bad sled, so don't flame me, I think it's great for what it was made for, but trail riding on decent trails is not it.
I for one believe it would be a wise move on Yamaha's' part to make a real world ridable version of the Phazer. I know many people that would have bought one if it had wind protection and a real seat. Myself, I need the above but with more power. With that combination, Yami will hit the mainstream sled market. The Phazer is a neat concept, but not one that is good for much long distance riding. Us long distance riders like to be aggressive as well.

You haven't ridden one it's fairly obvious. You took a look at the plain Phazer without any wind protection and made an assumption. The GT is actually a warm sled, a few have said that it's warmer than thier Vectors.
Why are you so resistant to change. You complained about the Apex series when they were first revealed because you didn't think the seating position would be good. Now the Phazer. I don't get it.
I haven't seen a GT on the Trail or in a showroom. Now that we do not have a local dealer, there are no factory demo's around here anymore.
I am glad to hear you think they are warm. That is the first time I've heard that.
What about the seat on a long ride, I would have a hard time believing that is comfortable for 200 mi.
I like the look, but many I know have shied away because of the seat and look of no wind protection.

i have a gt(my wife's)and can confirm with you that it isnt colder than any other sled,in fact my warrior is colder on the knees than the phazer,im 6'3 so my knees are way high as on the phazer my knees are lower and behind the deflector.as for the seat, absolutly no complaint,my wife would tell me if she's not comfortable,we rode 120 miles the other day and no sore butt, this sled is so easy to drive and standing up is way better than a rx,23 mpg and plenty of power for the average rider

The seat is plenty comfortable. Anyone who remembers the board seats on the early RX-1's would say it's downright comfy

Yeh, QCRider, please ride one before you make such a statement. If this machine was cold, tiring to ride or uncomfortable I would be the first to tell you. But take this to the bank, they are not only a little warm, they are actually very warm to ride. The GT with the larger windshield and wind deflectors I have personally riden at -25 Celcius with a good wind. I put on over 70 miles that evening and it was a good, warm ride. Only your right foot can get cold. REALLY! As for comfort a 150 mile day is not a problem, especially since you can move, stand and stretch so easy. It's very noticable the next day that you are not tired. Just fresh and ready for another day.

Trail riding on decent trails? What for, I bought the Phazer to ride in the roughest snow I could find. In fact, FX advertising "DITCHBANGER and FREERIDER for all ages" why smooth trails. I have been 65 to 70 mph in colder weather than that. Not really that bad I guess its all in the hardwear you are wearing. If I want to fly on those freshly groomed trails then no the Phazer isnt the first sled I would take. Not till the trails got ripped up then I would. Also if the Phazer would be useless in Quebec as you say then "dont buy one". Simple really, maybe I am misunderstanding your post.

Its called the Venture lite.. if you want a trail sled with posh ride and a toasty seat.
I ride my mtn lite, without a windshield and while I'm working the sled keeps me warm I have no problems staying warm otherwise.
Dress for the conditions and warmth should never be an issue.

Well, maybe you misunderstand it a little. You agree with me though basically that the Phazer was made for the type of riding that you describe here. I really don't care for the looks of the GT with the big windshield either. I'm glad you guys love the sled, I am not bashing it, just asking for something just a bit more mainstream with more power.
I'm not resitant to change or I wouldn't have bought an RX-1. I am resistant to own a sled that does not meet my wants or needs. I don't mogul mash, I ride high miles at high speeds in COLD weather. I'm not alone, as Quebec is full of people like me. When I first went there EVERY sled was a Thundercat, Mach Z, XCR, or SRX. Weight is not an issue, in fact it means absolutely nothing. Power and cornering ability are what you want up there.
Please don't take my comments about the Phazer as an attack on the sled. I really do think it is a great sled for what it was made for, just like the Rev. It's just not made for the riding I do. It could be that it becomes impossible to find that kind of sled in the future, but I hope not.

That's the thing though. No one thinks that you're attacking the sled. Just that you made some comments that really are a ways off. I can understand if the looks are not for you, you have to look at it. But your claim that it's not made for the riding you do, how do you know that? The GT is plenty warm as people have said. It corners nice, it's comfortable. We were talking chassis here, so with a bigger mill in it what's not to like other than looks?
Remember if it looks cool, it usually is.

It's not that I think it's way off, just tone it down a bit. Put a wider track and seat on it, offer a bit more wind protection without the need for that huge windshield, position the rider an inch or two lower, and put a turbo charged 3 cylinder in it and we'll be there.
Basically do something similar to what Ski Doo did with the Mach Z compared to the Rev. The Z is a bit more traditional than the Rev is, since it is meant to do different things than a Rev.
Either go this route or do what Cat has done with the adjustability.

All I would like is something half way between a Vector and a Phazer with 175 hp guys. Not slamming the sled at all, just my opinion and my preference.

I think the misunderstanding lies in the fact I am talking about a sled that already exists. If I am right your comments were about a sled that already exists? I didnt realize that we were comparing that to a sled that hasnt been(but hopefully will for your sake) been made. Maybe we will have to agree to disagree? No harm in that!
