Well last year after many unproductive suspension set-up changes I think that my Apex RTX with Ohlins electronic shock is trail worthy. Being a really big rider 375# and wanting a suspension that can handle me, as I like to rip-up the trails and yet enjoy a smooth ride, something that the stock Ohlins could never deliver, I started by installing a heavier Ohlins spring that wasn't heavy enough, so I contacted Ohlins rep and he said that for my weight that I would need their heaviest spring the 8.0 nm or 900# spring. Was also advised that if you are really insearch of the best ride that I needed to have the shock revalved for the heavier sping rate, so I had to do this before the end of last years sled season as I needed time in the saddle for real time test. Problem was late in the season no one had the heavy spring that I needed and special orders for Sweeden would take several weeks, which I didn't have. So the Ohlins rep advised me to contact some spring manufactures here in the states. One of them was Eibach spring out of southern Calif., problems again as they couldn't match the spring length of the Ohlins spring, so I to be resourceful by putting together and 8" spring and a 3.8" spring this was a little longer than Ohlins but it worked. Then sent the shock out the Pioneer Performance where Bruce was able to make sure the dual springs work properly. Thinking that a monster 1000# spring able 9.0Nm would do it...not way to heavy as with minimul spring preload wouldn't allow the proper sag 40-45mm so once again I changed out the spring for a 800# or 7.5Nm that finally allows proper sag for my weight. Plus I can mix and match the 800#-8" with the 1000#-4" or 1000#-8" with the 800#-4".
Finally its ready to go and all I need is snow.
