Black streaks from under seat

What ever happened to the guy that was concerned about black streaks leaking down the outside of the tunnel. He was ready to fix, or modify the exhaust, because he thought it was an exhaust leak. I told him what it was, and I never saw a post from him again? Are you out there?

I just got home from vaqcation. Yes the blacks streaks were me. I took it to dealer, and they checked it over. Opened up the rear. (i know this because they did not put the seat back on right ) Anyways they said they could not find the problem. Went for a ride and no more leak...... Absolutely baffled by this?????? So that is the end to that one. Sorry for not posting reply but not sure what was the problem so never bothered.

When you posted, I said the black was the aluminum oxidizing. I just pulled my seat, and found out what the source was. The seat has a foil on the bottom, to protect the plastic from the heat. There is a chemical reaction between the foil, and aluminum. It causes black residue to form. I glued a thin piece of fiberglass insulation to the tunnel, where the foil touches it.

that is good to know. the dealer explained that it was aluminum and water. I said ????? but they are the dealer and it was there nickel..... I may have to try that little fiberglass trick. Thank you for the follow up!!!!!!

Are you sure that they aren't brown streaks because the sled scared the daylights out of you?
