blank key part number

Looking for a part number for 04 rx1 blank key, only had 1 key given to me with sled
called local motorcycle dealer and was told that key blanks aren't sold without main switch, seems unreasonable ....
i've seen a lot of yamaha motorcycle blanks on ebay and they look alot like my key that i have, just longer and different head shape

go to your local hardware store and have them make one.

they won't do it without blank ... something to do with liability, i will shop around, maybe some others have less strict policy about that... meanwhile i was wondering if those blanks do exist out there

i got mine that way seems odd to me you have a key and want a copy they are not some special do not copy key its just a basic yamaha key go to a diffrent store. if they dont have blanks in stock i suppect they are a small operation and maybe a big box store maybe beter. i have had keys made before for 3 diffrent yamaha sleds they always seem to come with just one also you can order a replacement from your dealer with the number on the key it self very pricey thou. hope it helps.

I had the same issue at my small local hardware store - wouldn't (or couldn't) make a key without a blank. I still don't have an extra key.

I know that you can order a key for a boat by using the key number.
