Blew a set of plugs already???

Mine also fouled when I took it to dealer, you can get the plugs at a auto store for like 3.00 each, If you have access to a sand blaster that would do the trick to.

I have EGTs and i noticed that the combustion temp shift up after the rev change when the light goes out. I suspect that the timing is really shifted to ease up starting and then it does not promote complete burn during this time. Use of trottle during this time would only make things worst; mine do just fine with the enricher only at any temperature.

...and yes... i fooled a set too. Since then, i now carry a spare set.

you know the sled only runs on 2 cylinders during warm up phase right?

Interesting...
Don't believe all you read. There are no examples of this in Yamaha bikes & not starting on all clyinders does not make sense.

This is the first I've heard of it. Anyone know for sure one way or the other?

warm up...

look all, check out the fuel line configuration. On warm up the gasoline is highly consumed. Your fuel lines only run to two of the cylinders and the 3rd is plugged. The gasoline is vaccum primed into the third cylinder. So, basically during initial startup it does run on two cylinders, however, it immediately is running off of all three cylinders once started.

To the dumb-butts who are fouling plugs, if you read your manual it specifically tells you that warm up is at least 10-15 minutes at idle. Which you shouldn't be running your machine at more than idle anyway outside of snowmobiling! Therefore, start your machine let it idle check your cooling flaps under your foot boards it they get hot to the point you can't keep your hand on them.. immediately shut down! However, if you are shutting your machine down before that 10 minutes is up, you are asking for fouled plugs and possibly a fuel vaccum lock where the gasoline can actually leak past your piston rings and lock up your entire engine because it can't get proper compression. It this happens you need to get someone with a clue to take apart your engine. The moral of this is.... we are all itching to get our snowmobiles out, but if you keep dorking around with your snowmobile and don't treat it properly.. you are going to be paying a pretty penny and you won't be able to snowmobile anyway. So LOOK BUT DON'T START THE DARN THING 'TIL YOU ARE BURIED IN SNOW!!! :o| :o| :o| :4STroke:

Hmmm. Little harsh for someone with 1 post. Calling everyone that has fouled plugs stupid and your use of CAPS and exclamation marks is interesting. :|

I disagree with the response that you should never "start the darn thing until you are buried in snow" also. All it takes is a little common sense. Run it long enough to heat it up but pay attention to the ambient temperature. You can't idle it for 15 minutes in fall weather without it getting too hot as there is nothing cooling the exchangers. Mine has only fouled out once, and that was at the dealer.

The biggest thing to remember is they are way different than two strokes!
The choke should only be used to start it & then get it off!
On all of my four 4strokes, I turned idles up a little & only choke for 1-2-3 then get it off! The sled will idle nice from there!

Got new plugs in it and it fired rite up thanks for the help guys.

PS rodeo9119 shut up rookie haha

rodeo9119 was probably refering of the two vacuum lines from the carbs that activate the 2 fuel pumps.. so that leaves a free tap on the third carb which is plugged... really, output of the pumps goes underneat to the carb's fuel rail. ..rodeo, if you get fuel there, call 911.

Rode 100miles in last friday...yes..

Hey... glad a new set fixed your trouble.
