Blinking Temp Light?

I know on the 2-smoke yamaha's the temp light blinks when you fire it up. How come my 4-stroke temp light only blinks once in a while. Some time no blinking, sometimes it seems it blinks forever.

On a normally functioning stock machine, it depends on the engine temp when you fire it up. If it's already warm it won't blink. If it's really cold it will seem to blink forever. You will hear a distinct change in the engine sound when the light stops blinking and the warm up cycle is complete.

You may have already noticed, the machine doesn't like it if you try to ride before it's done blinking. That's normal, I'm the same way before I've had coffee in the morning. 8)

My wife's temp light is wired to turn off whenever mine is on so it's always my fault. :wink:

Sledder, don't you mean just the opposite? Mine said hers would never go off. I think that is a bad thing.

My temp light only comes on when I first start it in the early part of the day.....04 warrior
