at what boost level is it good to upgrade your blow off valve.right now i have the stock blow off valve that came with my front mount powderlites kit ,the small black one.i am going to install a bigger turbo on my rx1 ,the garrett 2860 rs and i was wondering if the blow off valve is good enough.i see lots of people running the blue vortech on their sleds ,like rx rider and lakercr on his ,so it must do something.i was just curios if it is worth spending the money on a better blow off valve.thanks for any help.fern

Get the Tial Q with the -3 psi pink (supercharger) spring. It worked way better than the Vortech on my mcx setup. Just make sure you get the correct pink spring -3psi and not the stiff -11 psi one.

Tial Q BOV springs:
-20 to -21 in/Hg use Pink -11 Psi spring
-16 to -19 in/Hg use Un-painted -10 Psi spring
-12 to -15 in/Hg use White -8 Psi spring
-8 to -11 in/Hg use Black -6 Psi spring
0 to -7 in/HG (or supercharger) use -3 PSI Spring (Pink)

Ted J. set me up with both the Vortech and Tial Q - excellent customer service. I was more pleased with the Tial Q vs. the Vortech on the RX-1 mcx ;)!

hi tt,the one i got now is the mishibishi one .what is the rating for boost on that one.will i need to upgrade to a better one with the 2860 turbo.my kit is a front mount also.thanks for any help.

The Vortech Maxflow Race Bypass valve flows 320 cfm @ 8PSI. Valve is 38mm.

If my memory serves me correct the email I got from Tial said that the Tial Q flows somewhere around 800 cfm@8psi. The vale is a 50mm.

Name:
GT28RS 62-Trim

Min CFM @2.0 PR
150

Rated CFM
@2.0 PR
495

Practical
Max CFM
450

Choke Flow CFM
550

I would take the Tial Q any day before the Vortech on a boosted RX-1 if you have flameout issues. But that is my 2 cent ;)!

sorry tt ,mine is the bosch style ,what do you think of that one.

I'm a fan of the turboXs RFL (really effing loud) or apexi twin chamber. I run the RFL in my STI and the apexi in my boat. The plastic ones (Mitsubishi or Bosch) should be fine until 20ish psi

I had a turboxs rfl on my old Rx1. That is until I did a boost leak check on it...Leaked like a sieve. Got rid of that pos. Sound great, but the problem is their design. The boost source going to the nipple on top is pushing air against a piston with no seal. There is no sealed diaphragm with this type of BOV. It relies on tight clearances to create a seal between the piston and cylinder and will inevitabley leak.

Car came with the RFL. No issues yet. The apexi is a far better designed unit. SARD also makes a nice valve same with HKS

hahahahah I have them both, will use the Vortech for the small variations in throttle position and when the vacuum get high enough the TiAL Q kicks in and blow off the big boost when I let off throttle quickly. I run the black spring in the TiAL.
