Blown belt----- WARNING with pictures

That aluminum shield Part# 8FU-2198G-00-00, pictured above, only costs $11.75 at Port Yamaha. I don't you can make it for less than that.

If that p/n is for the shield in my picture, he is not looking to replace this shield....he is looking to improve it. Sure, buy this shield and cut it up and rivet iin in place to cover the area exposed to the hose.

I can buy a small sheet of .075 (?) aluminum for a lot less than $11.

Thanks vectornut------ I agree with you will order two

Please post pictures of your modification once it is completed so it may help others.

Thank you.

Yes I will do it this spring got one ride to do

I had a belt come apart at high speed, Iwas scooping belt material out of the sled by the handfuls. there was belt material up the back of my leg all the way up in my collier. But the big problem was that the belt grabbed that aluminum plate and bent it up that we could not get a new belt on. There is no way to bend that down with a rock or a big stick on the trail. (the only time I was on the back of the rope)
Sometimes the belts just fail in a big way.

This was worst one I have seen same yours belt material all over what a mess

If anyone would like a pattern to copy on aluminum plate, I would send you one.

I used 1mm plate to keep the thickness to minim. If the belt should blow, it might

Damage the plate but save the hose. The belt travels ccw to secondary clutch. Keep

This in mind because front edge needs to be pointing down.

If you send me a self-addressed envelop, I’ll send pattern back to you.

I am not allowed to sell this so give you one. The 1mm plate can be cut with tin snips.

Once you cut it out you will need bend one edge up, trimming and file the edges. Needs

to be tight to the back plate.

If you decide to use thicker plate, it would take a band saw to cut it out. My band saw is not working

So I used 1mm plate.

Any question or improvements is welcome. Put one in the wife sled, mine is next.
