Well guys 2 yrs in a row blown motor? best of the best in motor, both times at end of season on straight race gas! Guess I will give up on the 3 cylinder. How much would it cost to build a NYPEX if I had moter and turbo. Oh yeah anyone have stock nytro engine to slap in it incase? :o|

Is it a cooloing issue?Did you add the mtn heat exchanger?
Cooling was not an issue, yes it has mtn cooler and I watch temps always.

When you say the motor is blown what is happening? Rod exiting block (is it the same cyl)?
What kind of fuel?
What kind of fuel controller?
A\F numbers?
How much boost and what turbo?

We run nytro motors around 25#'s all the time and have never had a rod exit a block at them boost levels.

RB3, 15-20lbs boost, last time broke ring gland, this time I would say a rod let go,AF numbers very safe mid 10-low 11, usually c16 but today c12 (all I could get) All I can say is it isnt for lack of good gear and safe tuning. This was a great sled as a low boost, but not playing this game anymore, it will go back to a low boost or a full blown nypex

If a rod broke you are detonating or it was a faulty rod it doesn't matter if its an Apex motor or not. If your running C16 there is zero need for low comp. pistons (especially at the mild boost levels your running).

It would be nice to see some pics of were the rod broke and pics of the top of the pistons.

Did you assemble the engine or pay to have it done as I would be looking in that area!

Nypex's aren't cheap to build.Depending on how you want it done and what it will be used for affect the price and the work.

We are working on a couple more Nypex projects for racing and I can tell you there is a lot of little stuff that needs to be done let alone everything is custom.

The engine has been done by a reputible shop both times, this is a trail sled that I like to race at small events ( nothing serious ) not in any hurry to fix this as the snow is basically done here. Just dont have any faith in this anymore, as has been said I am not running crazy boost levels but for a trail sled I will probably go back to low boost and have fun without this frustration and blowing money.

You need to give your engine builder more money. You did not pay the top level so you have a time limit on drive time HaHa. What goes around comes around Grant. He will run his boat aground, like many before.Keep your chin up we will get past this crap and laugh one day.
