My neighbor stopped by last night to have a beer and drool over my new Attak...he works in a body shop and will be painting my windshield for me (If it ever comes in ) He says "Why don't you paint those side panels blue?" I didn't think they could paint plastic like that and make it look good. He took one with him to see if the painter could do it. How do you think that would look with just the removable side panels painted blue? The rest of the "belly pan" would be black. I need some opinions. Thanks TY guys
Dano...Do you think you could change the color for me and post a picture?

If the paint is a true match I think it would look pretty sweet. I was just thinking the other day that there was too much black and more of that sweet blue was needed. Do let us know what you do and provide pictures

I'm also putting a blue skid plate on as well, so for the amount of work and money invloved in painting the rest of the underside, I think it would add just enough contrast...then again what the hell do I know
Just talked to my painter...he can paint the side panels no problem just wouldn't be as smooth as the hood, windshield, etc. Color should match perfect...I have the PPG paint code (Thanks RTX Meirdia)

That was the only thing I did not like about the blue and red sleds was I did not think there was enough color on them? I would paint the two side panels and belly pan blue and scrap the ski plate, unless you do alot of off trail riding and you need extra protection. In that case, just get the blue tunnel protector and get the side panels painted. Also, what about the bumber?

I will be painting the side panels blue, and having some airbrushing done.

Just talked to one of my customers who brought up a good point. Those side panels are very flexible...wondering if they would crack
A better idea would be to dye the panels. Could you get the die to match the blue color though???? I'm starting to think I will leave them black, add the blue skid plate and the low blue windshiled and possibly some custom blue/white strobe graphics on the panels. I'M SO CONFUSED!! :?

No, paint them, Have you ever seen bumpers and ground effects on vehicles, they put on a special primer to handle the flex, it will be fine.

Flex agent in the top coat , and good adhesion with a plastic adhesion promoter and proper surface preparation -it'll be fine . Please post some pictures when it's done .

I was told that DuPont has a system for plastics that works really well. If you have a friend in Auto-body, who is offering, GO FOR IT!

Is the material too grainy for painting? I don't know if it would sand smooth either? Hopefully it works...keep us informed!

Well, I tried to monkey around with my programs and can’t seem to convert black into a colour without losing texture and glare. I have no problem converting a colour into another colour , but black, chrome, grey or white doesn’t work for me. I’ll leave a couple pics of what I have and maybe someone more computer literate then myself can pick up from there.
I guess the windshield I coloured never made it to the accessory list...oh well
I think it would look great having painted panels though! Add a couple matching decals to the hood and voila!
