I was riding today, not the best conditions and I felt my left foot warming up, did not think anyhting of it and i looked at my boot and the left boot on the left side is blackened and smells like gas and or exhaust, I can see little indents on my boot from the metal pattern?
Anything i should look for, it is dark now so i want to look in day light but i can not think of anything but the belt is maybe going?
I dont know just a little confused..

electric sock malfunction???
that being your left boot puts it to the outside???hmmm there ain't nothin" out there except the boot hoop, right??/
a coolant hose runs along the tunnel to feed the running heat exchanger on our rage.

are you sure that isn't just the aluminum leaving a rub mark from general riding preasure?
I know the top of my boots get that way from hooking the foot holds.
And even on a 4 stroke you will smell gas and exhaust to a certain degree.
just my .02.

The fueltank over flow runns down that side could cause gas smell on your boot. That side is always hotter I am surprised that you have not noticed it sooner. That does look like aluminum on your boot.
I would check the drive shaft bearing just to be safe.

boots
They are the same boots I have allways wear.
My right boot does not smell like gas, and the only boots i wear, they were in the boot hole.
I chanced it and took a ride last night at my cabin a lot better conditions, I think maybe my sled was running hot because it did not do it last night... Weird.
I just had the service bulletins done on the sled and this was the first ride since all the work has been done.
I did not have a chance yet to look at it i had to come home for a little and i am going back to my cabin for more riding I will look at it then and keep a close eye on it.
It is not alum. on it it is actually burnt, the rubber is a little deformed and on the side a little higher you can see impressions on the rubber.
