Boss Instructions on my Webiste. Pics and tips

OK I tried to install my seat this weekend. NO heat shield and short about 10 snaps. I will call Boss tomorrow about those issues. My question is how did you get the last snap on the back of the tunnel, next to the exhaust shield, to snap around that shield? I had the shield off when I measured and riveted the snap in. Now with the shield on, I am unable to get to the snap, for the shield is in the way. Even if put the snap in a location where I could snap it, I would have to pull the tag with the snap forward around the shield which I think would cause the seat to wrinkle. I think the snap on the seat should have been located about 2" forward so it would go around the shield better. Anyone else have this problem?

I have the same challenge. I can get one side but not the other, I was told the seat will seat down on the tunnel better after you ride it and will confirm to your rear end. Then try snappin it on a sunny day. I have one of the back snaps but short on the other. I can see the seat does not sit on the back of the velcro all the way so can tell when i do start riding this will flatten out and cause the snap to get closer to the tunnel

I had the same problem, if you stand behind the sled and put your body weight on the back of the seat, this will force the seat down and foward so you can snap it on this worked for me,i did not think it would go on at all until i tried that

Thanks guys. I will try this after I get the rest of my snaps and heat shield.

Why I am at it, do you think a turbo will melt the seat w/only one layer of the heat sheild material installed? I was thinking about getting another layer to put down between the tunnel and seat.

I'm always interested in getting rid of some weight, but have a couple of questions about the boss seat. First, what is its exact weight of the whole seat assy, less the tail light. I saw a post that told the weight, but I don't know if it included the heat shield. Next, I've done a bit of hacking and modding of my sled to make it mountain friendly. One thing I did is re-rout the cooling line around the back of my sled to free up my running boards (see photo). It's a bit crude, but effective. My question is will my cooling line interfere with the Boss seat. It appears the seat rests on the tunnel where my water line is located.

From what i see you should be fine with the boss seat and your changes ,it rests on the tunnel more than anything and wraps around the tail lights

That is hard to tell. I just went and looked and it looks to me like the tail light assembly would get in the way of your tubing. How does it fit now? How does the mesh piece that goes between the exhaust covers fit?

The tail light assy and the rear fairing clear the tubing, barely. I'll attach another photo that shows the configuration a little better.

The seat will fit where you are showing on this last picture. Where I am worried, is the tail light area. I will try to take a picture tonight of my seat and the area I am concerned about.

I think that the tail lite area that you are talking about with the mesh cover is in place in the first pic he posted. and looks to be just like it should be, in stock position,so the seat should be fine from what i see.

Do a search for the weight saving it has been covered before,i dont remember the exact amount, but if you pick up the two seats the boss feels alot lighter.
