Fyi I also posted this under the Apex mountain section, but there does not seem to be as many guys on that area as the Apex general. So here goes, guys I have a 2007 Apex mountain with 3,000 miles on it, all stock. I am bottoming out pretty easy on the rear skid. The torsion springs are set to hard. I am going to try to set the front skid shock a little harder but I doubt that will fix it. What are your thoughts on this? Feels really springy/ soft. My brother has a 2009 apex mtx all stock also with 5,000 miles and he is not bottoming out at all. Thanks for any input you can give.

Is the shock blown?

x3 for the rear shock.

X2, did the bottoming just start? If so, shock...
It seemed to me, once I bought it with 2,600 miles on it, that it was not bottoming out. Now it wants to bottom out quite a lot, so I am taking it more easy. Torsion springs are set hard, along with the front skid shock to hard. It is not the front skid shock though, as it feels very soft/ springy when pushing down on the back bumper.

So since you guys are thinking it is the long rear center shock, are there any better shocks to put in it due to the OEM ones are not rebuildable on a 2007 apex mountain. Is there a rebuildable center shock that would work on the Pro mountain 162? I have also heard that the torsion springs on these go weak on you also. At what amount of miles do torsion springs get weak? Thanks

Following, I'm noticing the same thing on my 09 ltx and want to find the best route to go to fix the problem..
Well my sled I am talking about up above is a 2007 Apex mountain that is bottoming out in the rear. So the Apex mountain uses torsion springs, along with 2 rear shocks on it. Your sled, (which uses the same rear skid as my 08 vector ltx gt) uses the mono shock. To fix you bottoming issues, a rebuild and maybe a revalve is needed, along with the hygear duel rate spring kit. And that should fix your issues. I am new to the Apex mountain, so I do not know much about the Pro mountain skid in it.

can you take it off or fully extend the shock and measure it eye to eye. i think that apex xtx 2011-15 shock might work from looking at my brothers 09 mtx.

Yep, I can do that no problem. Tomorrow I will try to get measurements on it, and post them on here tomorrow night. If I lift the sled and put it on a Jack so the rear suspension is hanging down not touching the ground, that should fully extend the shock right? Or would the control rod keep it from fully extending the rear shock? Either way I will work on it tomorrow, and post back

ok. i have my spare skid outside the garage and i can measure the shock when i get home.

Just measured the rear shock today, unbolted one of the bolts holding it. Measured 16 3/4" long from center eye bolt hole to the other bolt hole. Also I did conform that the rear shock is shot. There is no compression to it at all. Push the shock in, and it will not extend, have to pull it back out with your hands. Took my brother's 2009 Apex mtx shock off also and his has piles of compression (I had all I could do to compress it). FYI his is a Aluminum shock, vs mine is a metal one (AKA once done you pitch it, haha). So if you have any measurements on the Apex xtx rear shock, that would be a huge help. Also is the Apex xtx shock rebuildable? I want to put a rebuildable shock in it if I can. Thanks

yes the apex xtx rear shock is rebuildable. the 2011 origional is on its 3rd round atm and is ready for its fourth as i can tell the nitrogen pressure is down on it when i get to ride it anyways. gf rides it most of the time.
