03 Yamaha RX1
Hi everyone! First post here so I hope I'm doing this right. Have been a long time Yamaha guy in the two stroke world and recently rode my buddies '06 Vector and was immediately sold!
Today I picked up a new to me 2004 RX1 with 1800 original miles on it. It has a couple minor (I hope) issues, which I will search the forums to see what can be done (or if it's normal) as I know zero about this beast.
You all seem like a great bunch of guys and gals and extremely knowledgeable - look forward to becoming a regular.
Jay

welcome! we can guide you in the direction you want to take the sled.
set up the proaction as per the tec pages for your weight before you ride it.
the only must for one of those is ulmers or thunder products clutch kit if it has not been clutched already. i like agressive trail from those guys.
the only thing with it that you need to watch is they do burn a bit of oil. just check it after every ride and you should be ok.

Good buy! I bought one the first year they came out in 03 and other than blowing a couple belts and changing some idler wheels I never had a hitch with mine in the 16 years and 34,000+ kms I owned it, right up to selling it a couple years ago. I only sold it because I went with a 2-up Venture TF and today I wish I kept it “just because”. Those things will start up in bitter bitter cold better than any car or pickup!

Thanks for the warm welcome and great advice on suspension set up, I will definitely do that.
I just took it for a ten minute rip and noticed coolant around one of the hard pipes that goes into the valve cover. Hoping it's just an o-ring!

Thanks Fro! I thought I bought it right. Good to know about the cold. It can get pretty damn cold some years in NHGood buy!
