What brand of BOV are you guys using any pictures of different ones mounted? Does it have to be off the intercooler or can it be on the charge tube right before the intercooler?

I had flooding issues last winter with my Bender kit. It would flood every time after wheelies. I moved the pressure signal for the fuel regulator from the plenum to the carb boots - T'ed together. This took care of my problems. (thanks Hurricane and Dave at powderlites)

But with this done I had to get at big enough bypass valve that is mounted in front of the pitot tube/pressure signal to the float bowls - this to prevent the sled from going lean when it is off boost/engine seeing vacum. I used a bosch bypas valve before moving the fuel pressure regulator signal to the carb boots. this year I have upgraded to a Vortech bypass valve from Ted J./Turbo Addiction Parts - great guy to deal with!

The BOVs I have seen installed on the Bender kits has been located on the charge tube or in the plenum.

Vortech.
On a Bender Kit it must be in the charge tube before the Pitot Tube or lean spots become a real problem, I have seen them in the intercooler on bender kits but they run like crap because the pitot tube sees the signal too late.

I thought the new 290HP kits have the blow off valve built in?

I don't think the actual Bender Turbo Systems kits ever came with a BOV as sold. That would only be an "after the fact" add-on.

There is a nub on the intercooler for a BOV but you think this would be a bad place to put it?

so is it mandatory to have a BOV then? will it funtion properly with out one?

Every Turbo should have some sort of Bypass system, it is a very large benefit to the turbo and the performance.

It was Not all that long ago that all the Turbo Kit Manufactuers Said You Don't Need them and did not come with them.

3 years ago I Introduced them the the snowmobile world and Now they all come standard with some sort of bypass.

I can't take All the credit for it, because it is just a carry over of knowledge from the High Performance car world I make my living in.

Ted

I ran a Vortech in front of the IC in my rear mount MCXpress kit, all turbo systems should have a Vortech or a valve with similar capabilities. I bought mine from Ted.

MCXpress kit sold but the Vortech goes in as part of my front mount project.

Ted when running your race intercooler, where do you suggest installing the Vortech Race Bypass?

As close to the turbo as possible.
