I have a zero mile sled that I intend on changing some things on.
Just wanted to get folks' opinions on a sled's (or any motorized vehicle for that matter) break-in period when you know you will be doing some basic mods.
Do you prefer to break the sled in first, then add your mods after the first oil change, or do you like to break the sled in with the mods on?
Example: exhaust, cold air, etc.
I prefer to break things in as they will ultimately live, so for example, with the exhaust I intend on getting. Your thoughts please.

I usually break in the engines as stock on motorcycles before modding.

I have a special break in area near me that gets snow earlier than anywhere else in WI,Hilly,Tight,Twisty wooded trails with jumps. This allows me to go as fast as I can but am never holding constant throttle. Also a great way to breakin suspension quickly. Find a similar area then tweak suspension, bar adjustments etc. Give sled a good 3-500mi chance stock then decide what mods are needed. This way you will know if your mods are actually working better than stock.

I usually leave it stock until the first oil change also. I use the “ride it like you stole it” method, but avoid more than 3 second WOT bursts for the first 100 miles with lots of throttle variation. Then normal riding from 100-300 miles avoiding long WOT Rail grade or Lake runs.

Thanks y'all. In this instance I was also leaning towards break in stock and add exhaust and tune at first oil change.
Mid-MI trails are nice and twisty. Should be good for break-in conditions.
Thanks for the tips!
