I just bought a leftover attak. I put 7 km on it this afternoon and the engine light came on a couple times. I took it out again later on and I didn't see it come on anymore. I have 19km on now. What do you think the reason was/is?

It got warm. Keep it cooled off. Don't let it sit and warm up for too long a period, a few minutes is plenty. Don't ride in low snow conditions. If its an 06, there is a chance the coolant mixture may be at the wrong ratio. Some came through 80/20. 60/40 will do it.

My wife picked up here new apex LTX and the light kept coming on. I kept saying keep it off the trail and in snow, keep it in snow...

She then said it keeps coming on. I hopped on it, went about a 100 ft. Got off and she came running up thinking its in bad shape.

I said - Put some gas in it. See the lil gas pump....its low on fuel - she said...PHEW

You gots to read your owners manual. Hopefully you did but if you are like most of us, you just want to get on and ride. You mention engine light, but there are many lights. One that comes on immediately which tells you it is warmed up,another that tells you it is too warm, another for low coolant, for oil, for fuel and so on. So, get familiar with them and then you recognize which one it is. That being said, as schmeg mentioned, a common occurrence with these new sleds is that they come from the factory with full strength antifreeze, so the first thing to do is check the strength, you want it about 50/50 or 60/40 which may be from -34F to-55F depending where you live. They also don't take kindly to idling and low snow conditions and you may have to consider adding a rear heat exchanger.

Thanks for the help. I have about 24km on it now. The light hasn't come on since 7km. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with it, but I'll check the coolant just in case.

mine did the same thing. first day it overheated. It was cold out no new powder, trails were packed hard. By afternoon the trails were slushy and the machine ran fine..

I put a rear cooler on it anyway. My friend has 2 Artic Cats 4 strokes and they overheated in same conditions.. I didn't want to take a chance.

I had my new Attak GT out for the first time earlier this week for a 140 KM (~90 mile) ride. Hard packed, sometimes low snow conditions and just above freezing temperatures. About 5 times I got the engine overheating warning light.. so I just let it cool down and then kept going.

Reading all the coolant/overheating threads, I'll try a 60/40 mixture and add Water Wetter before spending more $$$ on a rear heat exchanger.

I don't blame ya.. I spent about 100 bucks. but yesterday was my first 100 mile ride and you should have seen the steam coming off the rear cooler....
More then one guy posted on how diluteing, water wetter, etc. didn't work. Only the rear cooler..
I can leave it idleing now and it won't shut down.
