I have an 07 Attak that I have broken the W-arm agian. I don't think that I can fix it this time and am wondering if Yamaha has beefed these up or if I need to buy a used one and have it altered?
Also-what is everyone doing for a spring? I am 230 and ride very aggressively(can't help it-love the 4 stroke power!). I bottom this thing out a lot even on the stiffest settings. My wife has given me the green light to spend a couple hundred extra and I am thinking that the spring is going to give me the most bang for my buck.
Thoughts?

do I need to beef up the W-arm if I buy a new one? I was hoping that Yamaha has addressed some of this issue with some extra support.

mono-2 addressed some issues but the original mono replacement parts same stuff as it came with, i run 240 or so dressed and have my spring set at third clip and 6th cam position with a recharged shock, not tobad but still bottoms in the big stuff, if i keep the sled will go with a pioneer or hygear revalve

2008 and later models were supplied with a beefed up W front arm.

If I could do only one of two things due to funding (spring or re-valve) it would be a re-valve. Explain to the builder what you want to achieve, your dressed weight and typical riding conditions and they will vastly improve your experience.

Im working on building chrome moly arms that should be way stronger and lighter than OE

Anyone know who can revalve in Michigan? Might try to swing a spring and revalve-will have to see how the wife is feeling!
Can anyone verify that I can use a W-arm off 08/09 that is beefed up from Yamaha?
Thanks for the help and watch out for trail #8 if you are riding in the UP by Munising. There are a couple of BIG bumps that the DNR was trying to repair on Tuesday with bull dozer!

You can use the front pivot arms from an '08-newer Apex LTX, as they are the beefed up version.
Keep in mind you cannot use the standard Apex (short track) front pivot arm as they are different. If you bought a new pivot arm from Yamaha, it would be the updated version.
As far as shock rebuilding, not sure of Michigan, but closest repputable place I know is Carver Performance in Minnesota. And beyond that there is Hygear and Pioneer Performance in NY.

I had broken and cracked my w-arm sent it to half baked for the beef up. Sent my shock to pioneer for revalve and spring. Worth every penny. I ride very aggressive and have hit some large holes and flew through woops that would have bottomed out and broken the arms. However once I got all that done I cracked the rails. I have upgraded my skid to an Expert X. Way better suspension for an idiot like myself.

Are you certain that the front arm form a 136" is different than a 121"? I know for a fact the rear arms are different between a 136" and 121". I have some of both and will have to take a closer look tonight, as I thought front arms were the same.

Doooooooh...you are correct!! The front arms are the same, the rear arms are different (idlers on same shaft as rear arm in short track. Idlers on separate shaft for long track). Good catch!

You should pm phazernut and or granto211. I believe both have 121 skids with rail extensions. Actually quite surprised the have come forward already. Both are pretty active members of the site
