Take a look at this thread. http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/xtx-suspension-upgrade-from-hygear.135146/
Also a search for 'xtx hygear' will yeild plenty of reading that should help you get it set up. Properly set up this skid is perfect for me. Surprised more of the ltx guys that are looking for transfer don't try it.

I have a 2017 XTX SE 141 and use the Hygear pro linkage, it does work very well but is limited with the float shocks. If you use the dual presure on the floats it makes them a little better but not the best way to get most bang for the buck. I went with Custom Axis for the rear shock, went with spring upgrade on center shock from Hygear. on the front end i used the Fox QS3's. for skis i went with Pilot 6.9 with these changes the XTX is a complete different sled from stock. trail comfort is excellent!! steering is very good with the Pilot's transfer and track hook up is very good. The QS3's really are huge improvement over the floats. This is the way it should have come from yamaha. It costs some bucks to get it right but money well spent. Nice thing about getting your shocks from Hygear is they will valve them for the sled and your weight. I am a husky guy also at 260 with gear and i love the way my Sidewinder rides now.

I agree with what JPS is saying. Don't waste time or money on floats, same goes for tuner skis. I also have a 17 XTX SE 141//1.6 and have wasted a lot of time trying to get floats to be something they are not. Floats are ok if you just off trail but are too much of a compromise trying to do trail and off trail. Was waiting for snow this year before changing things up, just got some snow a week ago, melting now. Next year.
X100 I went every which way back in 14 on the xtx even parked it and went back to Polaris pro r it was soooo bad then hygear pro linkage and axis shock rear skid and 2 up front now my trail/boondocker is un catchable and rides like an old 121" rocket.

So I made the leap from Ski doo to Yamaha for reliability, but man the rear skid sucks!!!!
Yes I am on the heavy end of the spectrum at 280lb dressed, but regardless the doo could handle it.
I have a BTX with the uncoupled skid and fox float 3's, I talked to a bunch of different vendors and heard everything from you just need a revalve to you need a rising rate kit and a coil over piggy back shock.
I am prepared to spend some serious coin if needed but don't want to spend more than I have to or with the wrong vendors.
I want to be able to handle the studders and the big G outs, I know what good shocks and springs are capable of but I don't know if the Cat skid is up to the task.
Do I need to retrofit a doo skid?
To get the XTX and BTX to do what you want takes a little adjusting and lots of testing for your riding style. I have 2 XTX's (1 switched over to a 153" like a BTX) and they are set up perfect. I can do off-trail tail stands, jumping, side-hills, boon docking and then can fly down the trails at speeds over 130mph, corner like an SRX, handle the washboards at 90 and just touch the rubber snubs on deep holes. I'm 250 without gear....all stock suspension components. Viper was bought new in 2013 and my winder is a 2017. For those that know me, I ride hard and haven't broke anything in the suspension yet.
Last picture shows the snow flying as I came around this corner about 80mph with a 153" 2.25 track

Just wondering how you have your suspension setup? What are the psi settings in main and evol chambers. Thanks
