Hey I'm doing my left bulkhead on my 06 and am stumped on what rivets i should get. I read on here 20 black and 40 natural but when i called the dealer they said they are showing it will use 5 different types of rivets. Can anyone that has done this let me know what to get because I'm trying to get everything in place before i start monday. Thanks

Repair kit

I installed a repair kit from barnofparts.com on my 2011 Apex after hitting a buried culvert and breaking the lower bulkhead hole. Got used A-arms from them and I did not have to do any rivet work. It was a lot easier.

Well crap i wish i went that route but already bought the bulkhead so i guess question still stands

parts

OFT Racing in Golden Valley MN. sells them ALOT cheeper, I use them to do 3 bulkheads, 25 rivets for $7.25 need a bag of each,

Looking at the frame microfiche:
Rivets 21&73- bulkhead to the frame
Rivets 73&74- for the nose piece
That's what I can find. I did the same and posted the repair 2 years ago.
I'll try to see if I can find the order that I had placed for it.

Here is the part list from my repair.
Added a pneumatic rivet gun from Harbor Freight.

We fixed one by bolting (10-32 button hex head screws) a metal plate with a new 'hole' bushing welded to it to replace the broken hole in the bulkhead, but I see someone makes a kit for this...it will last..far easier than replacing the whole bulkhead if that's all that's wrong...

Wow thanks for all the great replies. I was hoping to change my mind and do the barnofparts fix but the back is broken also. I'm hoping to start tomorrow if my bulkhead arrives and this post will help allot with the rivets. Thanks again

Sorry to hear you were not able to use our repair kit. You may want to consider the saver kit to help prevent a future break.

I spoke to a customer over the weekend and he told me that his son in law had snapped a spindle off on his rx warrior. He was certain the bulkhead ear would have torn out if the sled did not have the saver kit installed on it.

Fun job

I played that game 2 yrs ago.
Broke the dog ear off. Took some time aprox. 15 hrs, but not terrible.
Get the yamaha rivits, they are ridged and really pull things together.
Important- do not bother with standard rivet guns, I broke 3 within first 10 rivets.
Menards has a 20 $ bolt cutter style that works like a dream, watch your eyes the stud shoots out like a pellet.
While you are at it check all the A arm bushings, might as well kill 2 birds with one stone.

Ya i will be getting the saver soon after i get it together. Thanks for the tip wilbust, no men arcs up here but hope to find something and ya going to have a close look at everything while i am in there

Thought i would throw a update on here. I did the rivets by hand it was no prob and the least of my probs. I'm not mechanically inclined but i would say it was way easier than expected and the only tough part was wiggling the old bulkhead out and the new one in. Thanks again for the tips guys
