My yz 450 does the same thing. When it gets really hot it drips a little out the crank breather. No big deal really. Havent seen it on the sled yet.

I trust my dealer 100%, (they warrantied my 08 subframe when I hit a tree, so there being very good to me), he said it is something to keep an eye on, but shouldnt be an issue. They said they have seen Apex's do the same thing. Hopefully it isnt a big deal!

ya I'm not sure what to do for this, basically all I can do is keep running the sled and see what happens, I looked t what was done to my sled at the dealer, they added .9 quarts, so basically one quart for 776 miles.....

Was the sled ever upside down for more than a period of say 20-30 seconds. If so oil would drain out the breather hose into the airbox. Had this happen to us multiple times out in the snowies when we rented nytros. It was pretty easy to notice all the oil dripping out though.

yamYboY.... you may trust & like your dealer about cosmetic items, but he & his mechanics better go back to basic engine knowledge 101. That and they(dealer) are blowing burnt oil smoke up your a$$ about it being "normal" for a 4-stroke to burn a quart in less than 1,000 miles.
I've seen 300,000 mile car engines pouring a blue fog out the pipe & not be using a quart in 700 miles. There is something wrong dude!!
And Skydog... you prove my one theory. You have a boosted engine that sees very high cylinder pressures and it uses no oil. If any engine were to use oil it would be a forced induction one. Providing all other problems aside (bad guides,rings, etc)

Agree, something wrong here. I would check the level cold, (cap unscrewed) then start it up, let it get to temp, check the level again. The correct way is to get the engine to temp then check within a minute or two. Also agree that keeping the level a little below full will help reduce the oil blowing into the airbox. If the level is high at either cold or operating temp then that's were the mistake was made. Since these sleds use a dry sump the old way of checking the oil is not going to work. My guess is that they either A: Overfilled it by incorrectly checking the level, or B: they've overfilled and you've lost oil through the breather into the airbox. Either way, something needs to change. Oh yeah option C: your motor is screwed and buring oil, this is unlilkely as the blue cloud behind you would tip you off and bring a new meaning to bleeding blue.
