Burning oil

How much oil burn is acceptable before there is cause of concern?

I broke in my engine per motomans recommendation. I changed my oil at 28 miles and currently have 800 miles on it. In 732 miles I have burned .6 qts. Is this normal or acceptable?

Also I am only able to get 99 mph on the speedo and 95 mph on the GPS. I was hoping to see more speed out of it. As it sits its about 5 mph slower than my 06 Nytro was with the same mileage.

I'm not sure about the oil. But the speed sounds about right if you are on a shorty 121". You should be able to see about 105 on the speedo once she is broken in if you are on ideal conditions. The xtx will do well over 100 tho.

Are you sure your burning oil or leaking oil? Has the unit been on its side? Have you noticed oil after high speed runs? My 08 would puke oil into the airbox when doing WOT for miles.

I did have it on its side briefly. But its gone down since then. I have been doing a few lake runs. I will have to check the airbox.

Check oil filter for a pin hole/dint as well

I wouldnt worry since your not totally broke in anyway. slight oil consumption can be expected during break in. oil in the airbox is blowby either from over filling or rings that arent seated perfect. My xtx has 5000+miles and does not use any oil whatsoever and my airbox is so dry you could eat from it. It was broke in hard.
