Buying a Hindle with a 20 inch Muffler. Tore my sled down and found one flex pipe compltely broken and another loose. I was hopeing it was just a donut or donut's. But since I have to take the flex pipes off the motor I might as well get the Hindle. This has become a big pain in the a$$. Those clamp bolts do not come off easy. I used lots of heat and Liquid wrench. Just went with the vise grips and passed on the allen key. Now only if I can get the header pipe off and the bolts that hold the flex pipes on the motor off. Everthing else was going well.

Also noticed I have a skid plate that has gone AWOL. :o| I guees it is time to up grade. Will be ordering my new skid plate. Probably the long version.

Man that sucks big time, hope it was one of the top ones might be easier to get out

Can you get vise grips on it?lock tite makes a areasol can that will deep freeze the bolt shrinking the bolt also gets oil down deep in the thread at the same time, that might be worth trying befor you get into it deep

Nope, Broke off smooth and flush with the head.. :o| Everything was going good this am. Driiled a hole in the bolt and got an easy out in there. Was starting to turn and then POW! the easy out broke off and left nothing to grab onto. CRAP!

1st big question. Anybody know how to drill and easy out? THey are hardened metal I think. At least I am not making a ny head way trying to drill it out with titanium drill bits. The extension I am using only holds 1/4 hex drill bits. I can't get a drill in there to use regular bits. I'm using a flexi extension.

2nd question. I was thinking of pulling the head off. Anybody have experience on that? Or would it be asier to pull whole motor and take it to machine shop to drill the easy out out?

Your screwed pull the head,or if u no someone good with a welder u might be able to weld a small socket to the broken easy out and try loosen it that way but thats a long shot, even a machine shop will prolly have a hard time getting thay out

U might want to try to hit it with a chisel on the side of the broke part to get the easy out out

Ya I have tried the chisle already. I'm gonna to try to drill small areas around the easy out. Trying to figure out how hard it will be to pull the head.
Only if I had some way to get a regular bit in there. Then I could try a cobalt drill bit. I know how to weld. Just need to find a welder at this time. Guess I can see if my buddy is home and load his up.

If you take out the 2 front motor mount bolts the engine will tip ahead some. That might give you better angle of attack. If you do tip the motor ahead keep an eye on the hose to the oil tank, the weight of the engine can cut it against the frame.
