Can a guy make a set of jumper cables? If so what gauge wire do you guys recomend, and where can I get some small clamps for the ends ?

you can probably buy all of this at you local hardware store. I would recommend 10ga wire or bigger. just keep in mind the smaller the wire then the less amps will flow and the wires will get hot with extended use. The 10ga will work and be light weight.

Yammie sells some, but they are pricey, i got a super #*$&@ set for xmas just for this reason, the cheapest ones TSC had, 10 guage, with huge clips, i just cut off the huge clips and soldered on small ones i already had ready for this job, they fit inside my tool pouch with the belt and everything.

I've got a set of Yuasa cables. Powersport specific, motorcycle battery sized clamps,8ga, 8ft, with storage pouch. Paid $18 for them. Pouch with cables measures about 6"x6"x1", easy to store.

Ok I understand why having a pair of cables is a good idea but here's a question...If you're at your logging destination or garage/house etc I can see this being an easy way to get it going if there's a battery related failure, but what if you're in the woods? Can other electric start sleds (i.e. - sleds w/batteries) jumo you? If so how?

Just like jumping a car. Positive to positive and negitive to negitive and basically it the second sleds battery that starts your sled.

X2 ;)!

I have a set that fits right in my tool bag in the front. Picked them up at farm and fleet for 7 or 8 dollars.
