I tip my hats to the guys putting in the effort to solve the heated grip issues. Some good reading from a technical standpoint. I do hope a solution to this problem comes out of it. If we as a group come to a technical fix of ANY of the concerns you guys have I will personally deliver them to my Yami dealer and ask that he bring them to the attention of his rep. What else can we do? I'm not here saying there are no problems but, listening to people bitch about them instead of trying to solve the problem sux! If I wanted to listen to bitching I'd forget about riding and stay home!!!

I wouldnt buy a sled and expect it to be perfect, but to expect consumers to solve design problems instead of the engineers????? I would be embarassed as a manufacture to even think of it!
Ignoring design issues will never help Yamaha resolve them.
BTW, know one is making you stay home and listen to the bitching.Your as much a part of the bitching as anyone else in this post.

The nice part about the internet is that no one in forcing you to read it and it can be a great outlet. If the title of the thread isn't clear that it is going to be a gripe-fest then you can tell by reading a post or two. If you don't like it - stop reading.
I think that some of the complaint threads can be very entertaining and sometimes therapeutic for those wanting to rant.

There are now two pages of complaints in this thread and not one serious suggestion, other than switching brands, about how to solve the problems presented. This is not helpful or productive.
My one functional issue with the Nytro is over the hand warmers. But we (myself and others on the site) are working on a solution without ripping on Yamaha. The ball joints were a manufacturing issue that is now being addressed with replacements from Yamaha, so that problem is solved. Before this was available I implemented my own fix and posted this solution on the site.
I don’t buy into the idea that there is something inherently wrong with the front sub-frame. I’ve ridden the sled hard enough to accept that if the sub-frame were to bend it would because of something done to overload the system. No sled is indestructible. If the sub-frame let loose while sitting on the trailer I would be jumping up and down, but clearly that has not been the case. Years ago I raced 3-wheelers and broke them and repaired them on a regular basis, none of which was Honda’s concern or fault. If you’re truly going to ride these things hard, you might as well take the Yamaha badges off and put your own name on in their place. In my opinion, unless you’re driving in circles on a frozen lake these things see a lot of abuse and hold up surprisingly well.
I had a choice of 4 brands when I laid out my money for a sled. I certainly don’t feel stupid for buying the Nytro, nor do I believe I was taken advantage of in the process. If others do, there are still three brands (each with their own problems) to choose from. Really, unless you’re threatened by IEDs on a daily basis, it seems ridiculous to complain too vociferously about anything these days.
If we don’t find a solution for the grip heaters it’s not the end of the world. I’ll get heated gloves and going riding every chance I get this winter.
Now that is a great point and all I can say is AMEN!!! This is a site that focuses on fun and solutions not complaint... if we do not focus on the direction the site is intended for then I will shut her down as its no fun for me to hear your problems over and over.
