another seat option is to add 3 in of foam to RX1 seat. You can even use the original seat cover. cheaper and pretty good option. Here is a pic of mine.

went to a apolstery store and got some chair foam( Firm) shaped it and cut to match conture of the top of the seat. I think you can get foam at fabric stores also. Its been like 5 years ago since I did it. Made the rider height much improved for sit to stand transfer plus soft ride!
hope this helps!

Well, I just got back from a 1500 mile ride in Canada with my Apex seat mod and the XX tall ( 18 3/4' ) windshield and I think I'm going back to my stock seat with the X Tall ( 17.5" ) windshield.
The major issue with the change is that it CHANGED the whole aerodynmics of the sled. The first few days the temps were +5F to -10F and I noticed alot of powder coming up from knees to my face along with a heavy exhaust smell and alot of ice build-up just below the exhaust pipes. It was soooo much that I could not un-buckle the straps on my saddlebags. When the temps rose to +35 - +40 the back of my jacket, pants, helmet, saddlebag and seat were soaking wet and still had the exhaust smell. My friend riding behind me said he actually saw the vortex of snow powder behind me and the faster I went the more it backlashed. I tried bending the snow flap out and it helped a little bite but not enough.
I think I'd rather have my old seat back and be dry.
Any thoughts?
Sounds similar to guys who first ride the Rev's. Those machines are damn cold to ride when it's chilly out but there's not much you can do about it. In my mind the apex seat is our attempt at rider forward so I would expect more snow in the face and chest but what you're talking about just sounds odd?
I went to do the seat mod today, but the seat I bought (06 mountain apex) seems to not fit very good when i put it ahead to the gas tank it's to far for the back like it's to short ,anybody else have this happen?
I have the same problem with the snow ending up all over my back.
My Apex seat doesn't fit like it's short, but it rides like it is short. I end up sitting with my butt against the plastic part of the trunk and it is irritating and annoying after a while. I might go with the foam in the stock seat next year.
Yup, there is definetly an issue with snow on your back, after the seat change, and bending the flap out will help some. Just don't bend the flap so far that it doesn't keep the snow from the heat exchangers.
The ride and handling changes makeup for it though, IMHO!
I use the 05 RX seat and the huge windshield. Stay warm, back dry, sits a little higher and firmer. Plus I always ride with the trunk bag. I personally do not like the look of the apex seat, looks like a preganant worm, IMHO. The 05 seat was the mod to do before the apex came out.
