So I am completely going through my 07 phazer I just bought. I allready have a lot of time in money in her. One thing I know it needs is a new track. I want to to convert it to a 136 free ride but dont know if I can drop the money right now. My question is can a worn or beat up track actually break and leave me stranded?

I had a worn track rip (40% across) on my Mountain Max 700 a few seasons back while riding... had to baby it back home but made it...
worn as in lugz are in bad shape or is the entire track is bad shape?

Tears in the small outer 2 bands are the most likely to come apart.

x2----lugs torn off no big deal, could last thousands of miles.

if the rubber is cracked it's not to bad, if the cords are broke it's doomed
take a picture of the worst spot and post it here

I will get a pic tonight. Essentially on the sides I can see threads. There are a lot of missing lugs. And I can see s a spot where threads are visible running perpendicular to length of track.

I made the decision after looking tonight im replacing it regardless. I might try a used stock track in good condition for the right price. Then do a 136 next season.

I'd save your cash from doing a 136 and just use a 1.5" track and cut it to width. Would be really easy to find one.
Speaking to budget, of course.
