I got a set of taller bars (Renthal) with no heated grips. Can I install any heated grip on these bars without throwing a code. I dont want to have to spend the money on stock yamaha heated grips.

I have RSI's on my Nytro..no issues...tons of guys run RSI's on there yammis without a problem...

I have run rsi and spi grip heaters on my apex with non of them causing issues. None of them worked to fix the heat issue. Yamaheater is the only thing that worked. Now my rsi heaters with insulators and plastic hooks inside are too hot.

Like Betheviper said they will work but not fix the issue as it is a computer duty cycle / 80% max out put issue not a grip issue. THe Rockmiester kit acutally allows the out put to go to 90% and the extra 10% of true 12v seems to make the difference.

Hope that helps, Rockmiester is the master and has long threads explaining this, I may have butchered it some - feel free to correct if so.

Yamadoo

I already have a yamaheater so heat will not be a problem.
I'm going to get a set of RSI heaters for the new bars.

I have got the Rockmeister hand warmers and they have done a great job. The only time I really had an issue was when it got down to -21 last winter. He now has a booster that even pumps them more. Got it at the end of the season and haven't used it yet but his stuff works good!!!!!
