As Stated above. I have a low speed belt whistle need to clean clutches can I use brake cleaner or should I use something else?

seems like it would be the perfect product to use. It takes petroleum products off of brake rotors and leaves a clean dry surface so the pads don't slip.

Brake cleaner is a degreaser! Everywhere I looked they say it leaves no residue. I know a huge amount of people including myself that have used it. I mean if it had anything to make the clutch slip what about the brakes? Now carb cleaner is not a good idea most leave a oil residue behind!

Guess you read the label to see if it has petroleum products but the stuff I've used says it leaves no residue and I've had no problem with it. I'm all in favor of dawn and water especially in the dishwasher. Have an old dishwasher that I would love to set up in the garage if I get it heated.

i have used brake cleaner on my clutch faces for years. leaves them squeeky clean.
brake cleaner on rag then wipe.
not sure i want to pump it into the areas that have plastic. Break clean can really dry stuff out.
My 2 cents

If you are worried after than use a semi aggressive 3m pad.

Brake cleaner, carb cleaner it all works no issues here for years. Just wipe the sheaves with acetone when ready to put belt on.

You can use it on the sheaves but acetone also works. We used acetone on clutch sheaves when I used to pit for a guy in the old Mid America Ice Drag Racing circuit. He made the podium a few times so I believe it worked well. :)

Yep acetone works but use gloves that won't melt and keep it off your skin. Very bad stuff! Well ventilated area fumes are hazardous!
