Can you get Extended Warranty on a new prior season sled?

I am buying a new 06 Nytro and I wanted to put the extended warranty on it. The dealer told me that since it is non current that it wasn't eligible. Is this true? It would seem to me that since it is still considered new that it would still be able to have the warranty put on it.

what the dealer is telling you is not true - you can buy ext. warranty on a leftover sled (i just bought ext warranty for my girlfriends 06 gt) - i would like to know why he is telling you this because the dealer makes a good profit by selling ext warranty - i would bet he already warranty registered the sled with yamaha (to get dealer rebates that were about to run out) and the sled is out of warranty - that would be the only reason he could not sell you the warranty

I know that it is technically new. Its still in the crate. So you think that he used the standard 1 year warranty already? I was told by him that the sled still had it. How can I check this? Call Yamaha and have then run the VIN? Will I still get the 499 deal through Port even though I did not purchase the sled through them?

a sled doesnt start using warranty until it is sold..

You will be able to purchase the extended warranty just as i did from port yamaha.

Get the VIN and then call Port Yamaha, they can check to see if warranty can be extended. There were some leftovers from last year that Yamaha auctioned off to the dealers that didn't come with a warranty, but you could still buy the warranty for them.

I don't know about sleds, but on automobiles, the clock on the warranty doesn't start until the in-service date, which is usually the date of sale. The amount of time that it sits in inventory is not a factor, nor is the date of manufacture.

Found out that the extended warranty IS available. I am calling Port to work a deal. I got a quote for $570 from a local place. Hoping to get that $499 deal from Port.
