My sled is all ready to go and I have my passport. I'm looking forward to a trip to Canada since last year was such a disappointment. Just wondering when the trails open up there? Or do they open when there is snow?

Each club decides when it's best to open or close their trails. It's based on conditions. What area are you headed up to? You can then figure out which club's district that is and check their website.

Nothing open yet as far as I know, unless you change Provinces and either head to Northern Quebec or Manitoba.

We need cold up here first before we get the snow, and as far as I know, most places haven't seen neither yet, at least for an extended period of time?

Us this link and go to "trail Status" on the left hand side, pick your area that you want to ride in the future and see what's open.

Most likely I will start in the North Bay area because its only a four hour drive for me. I am asking because trails in the States don't open until after hunting season is over even if snow is on the ground. It sounds like Canada opens when you have snow. Just checking out my options.

A lot of trails won't officially open, even if we have snow, unless it has been cold first.
Every year people complain the trails haven't been groomed and why they aren't open, then complain because they bought a Permit and think they should be able to ride no matter what! :o|

The truth to the matter is, if it hasn't been cold enough to freeze the creeks/swamps etc, then there is no way the groomers can get out without risk of being swamped or sunk themselves.
