Cant clear codes

Sounds like you need a new battery. Replace it first and see how the sled performs. Low voltage is hard on the electronics of the sled and will cause strange running issues.

Thank you for replying. I appreciate it. Ive been reading as much as i can and I thought the same thing after reading how much battery voltage these things need to start. You can hear a pitch change in the engine when I unhook the charger. how would I check the magneto to make sure it is charging? Definitely going to replace the battery though.

From all the errors that I have dealt with on the Apex, the error code will only go away when the problem is fixed... I have never had to clear the codes.

Maybe that speed sensor is bad.

Is this different from the RX1? I would think after working on it, one could clear the codes and see what pops up again.

it would be the same.

I got a guy swears it isn’t but he maybe was familiar with RX1. I installed the Genesis from the 2012 Apex w/ exup on my Gyrocopter. Had to modify Wire harness but all should be good. Runs like a top and a gyro has never seen such power to weight. But I’ve still got several codes and I can’t clear them. I know I don’t have issue with a couple of them or the engine would be dead. Maybe the harness isn’t quite right but the guy who helped me is sure he should be able to clear them and then see which ones reappear. I thought maybe he did that on his RX1. If what you say is right, then it must be bad sensor readings and I’m back to figuring out how to either bypass or get correct readings. Thanks for responding.

I have transplanted all kinds of motors and it runs self diagnostics, so with a bad sensor or something is not plugged in correctly. Its not like a car..

Okay, so every startup it will either throw or clear codes based on a diagnostic run when the key is turned.
When would one use the “clearing” procedure that is outlined?
Looks like I’m after answers for these: 45, 64, 85, 21, 22, 30, 42
Have you always swapped to other sleds or have you ever transplanted into a diff vehicle?

Other sleds, I have never had to use the procedure but its worth a shot. I still think it wont help.

These are codes for RX1

If you have number then you have an Apex system.

Apex Fault clear:
You have to get into the diagnostics in the screen and clear them. Here's how,
- push and hold the reset and select button in with the key off
- turn key on while still holding buttons in.
- hold for approx. eight seconds and the word "diag" should appear
- push and hold the reset and select button again for two more seconds until the "01" appears
- use the select and reset button to go through the numbers till you reach the number 61 and 62
- 61 shows which code you have and 62 shows # of codes in the system
- go to number 62 and press the hand warmer switch up or down to erase the codes.
- turn off key to reset gauge

I found this for 2005 updates systems on the RX1.

Thank you for sucy a great reponse. It is from a 2012 APEX. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear.
The codes you gave me for the Apex seem to be missing a couple as the numbers seem to skip.
I have codes 45 and 64 that aren't on the sheet for some reason.
The engine is running really well which is why I have trouble believing some of the codes.

I looked all over for those other codes and dont see them either. Strange, have you tried the clear codes procedure?

I've been searching all over too. Maybe I need to buy the service manual?
I did try the reset with no luck; I checked the hand warmer switch to verify it was still working right and I was able to adjust the exup, so that should be correct.
21- Coolant temperature sensor- open or short detected
22- Intake temperature sensor - open or short detected
30- Oil pressure dropped- Here too, if this were true, wouldn't the computer prevent me from running this thing at full throttle?
42- No normal signals are received from the speed sensor- I have the speedometer hooked up to the rotor blades and they read fine, I'm told if it doesn't the computer won't allow power to be increased.

45- No Code description
64- No Code description
85- Oil pressure switch is not normal
