Cant clear codes

You need to fix code 42, chances are that 84 will clear itself afterwords.

The speed sensor will OFTEN fail if the bearing goes. The gear (which is actually what the sensor is reading) touches the face of the sensor and causes it to fail. If it only hit it a little, it will be an intermittent failure, if it digs in noticeably it will be a full failure.

you are correct, I have no speed reading on my cluster
anybody have a used speed sensor for sale?

I thought I said that from the beginning kind of...LOL... Nice job wavemaster, I was thinking that but never typed it..

From all the errors that I have dealt with on the Apex, the error code will only go away when the problem is fixed... I have never had to clear the codes.

Maybe that speed sensor is bad.

To bypass the TORS, just find the black and white single wire connectors in the rubber boot at the base of the handle bars. The white and black should be plugged into their respective colors from the handle bar harness to the chassis harness. Simply unplug them, and on the chassis harness side, plug the white into the black -voila.. The handle bar side doesn't matter.
I wouldn't do it unless you make sure your throttle cable is set perfectly though, as its obviously seeing a coffee for a reason. Unless you've got a boosted sled, there should be no reason to ever bypass it for normal operation!

The people on this web forum ROCK!
thanks everybody for all the info.
I put on a new speed senser and all the flashing lights and all the codes are gone
everything is back to normal
Thanks again

Right on ;)! Thats what we are here for.

I have the same codes but my sled will also not start. Would have these codes cause the sled to just crank but not start?

I changed the spark plugs and 2 coils due to corrosion on #3 and #4 cylinder, ive also trickle charged the battery.. it just cranks but won't fire

What year sled and how many miles?

2008 apex ltx 6000 miles. I blew the drives shaft bearing and speedo sensor on the last run in march but kept driving it. It had code 42 and 84 flash prettty much the entire ride home. First sled, first year riding.. anyway, tried starting it a couple weeks later and it would just crank Not fire. Charged battery, changed plugs, found 2 broken coils and changed them too. Still just cranks and won't fire.

I'm going to check for fuel and spark tomorrow.. just seems very odd it was running before with these codes and now won't start. Any ideas?

Also the plugs from cylinders 3 and 4 were rusty with white powder on them. That's why I changed those two coils because the ends werE cracked. I have a picture but I can't upload it from my phone for some reason..

Crank with no start usually is either the fuel pump relay or the stator.
Corrosion on the plugs can from antifreeze weeping from the coolant tube on top of the head, loose coolant hose clamp or from an overfull overflow tank.

Thanks. There is a coolant leak on top of the head next to #2 cylinder. I also finally got it started by hooking up the charger directly to the jumper leads and cranking it for awhile. Took a while but it started. If I snap the throttle quickly though it stalls.. why would that be?

Sounds like you need a new battery. Replace it first and see how the sled performs. Low voltage is hard on the electronics of the sled and will cause strange running issues.
