Can't get the headlight cover back on!

I actually bought a replacement cover last year but I like my fix better and have not bothered to replace it.

After my tabs broke off I installed bolts on the tank cover, drilled holes on the headlight cover where the tabs were and used wing nuts to keep it down. Two years with it and no problems whatsoever.

Where did you get those wing nuts?

They came from the kit to attach my cargo carrier to the roof rack. You can find similar ones at Lee Valley for cheap.

I recently took mine off and on for the 1st time. It was a pain in the azz to get off and thought I was going to break it. After I re-installed the rubber grommets in the gas tank cover I applied a little silcone grease that I use on brake hardware to the plastic posts. The head light cover just popped into place. I havent tried removing it again after I applied the grease but I am sure that it will come off much easier. G.B.
